Only Murders in the Building Season 4 returned with an eighth episode on October 15, 2024, which followed up on the packed seventh episode that had also seemingly untangled some of the complex webs woven this season. However, the eighth episode upped it by actually putting one of the mysteries to bed.

The eighth episode also complicated the other mystery further, meanwhile, leaving fans and fellow podcasters, Charles (Steve Martin), Mabel (Selena Gomez), and Oliver (Martin Short), far from the mystery of Sazz's murder. The ending did hint at a new direction but the repercussions of the same are yet to be explored in the upcoming episodes.

Only Murders in the Building Season 4 Episode 8 also ended with a cliffhanger, which made this episode even more interesting, Much like the previous seasons, the last few episodes of the fourth season are also turning out to be as great as fans would have expected and there is still more to come.

*Warning- There may be major spoilers for Only Murders in the Building Season 4 Episode 8 in the section ahead.

Only Murders in the Building Season 4 Episode 8 solves one mystery with great patience

The episode kicks off after the ending of the seventh episode, where the trio, and their actor counterparts, discover that the West Wing residents were cashing Dudenoff's cheques, which seemed to hint that they killed Dudenoff and later Sazz to protect their secret. This probed the six of them to invite the residents to the Arconia for a game of Oh Hell!

However, as soon as they entered, they took the six probing investigators captives and started narrating their stories of meeting Dudenoff and what he meant to them. They tried to convince the trio that Dudenoff was not dead and was living in Portugal, but this lie was shattered when Helga, the owner of Hamy Faye Baker, came to the Arconia after Mabel contacted her through the ham radio.

Upon this discovery, the group reluctantly revealed that Dudenoff found out that he had a terminal illness and decided to kill himself before the illness consumed him. However, he wished for the residents of the West Wing to keep the pretense that he was alive and in Portugal so that they could continue to rent his apartment for cheap and collect his social security cheques.

However, he excluded Helga from the plan because she was reeling from the death of her father and saw him with a similar reverence. This solved the mystery of Dudenoff's death in a very offbeat way.

This also reminded us how well Only Murders in the Building changes tracks. This episode also had some brilliant cinematic references that were interwoven well with the narrative, making it stand out.

The end of Only Murders in the Building Season 4 Episode 8 left behind big questions

Though one mystery was solved with caution and patience, the episode did not end before giving another thing to ponder on. This episode confirmed that Sazz was killed by a different person and her death was not linked to Dudenoff or the West Wing residents.

Instead, as revealed by Helga, who was contacted by Sazz earlier through the ham radio, Sazz's protege was harassing her. She even claimed he would be the death of her. On research, the trio discovered that this was none other than Glen Stubbibs, who was still in the hospital.

All in all, this episode not only untangled some webs and delivered some brilliant cinematic references, but it also kickstarted a mystery that would possibly fill the upcoming episodes. This was another reminder of how good Only Murders in the Building Season 4 has been and how good it can still be.

Only Murders in the Building Season 4 Episode 8 is now available for streaming on Hulu.
