Paris Has Fallen is the spin-off series that exists in the same universe as other 'Has Fallen' films starring Gerard Butler as Mike Banning. The series was announced in May 2023, but the project has been in the works since 2021.

The 'Has Fallen' series consists of three films: Olympus Has Fallen, London Has Fallen, and Angel Has Fallen that were released in 2013, 2016, and 2019, respectively. The series is written by Howard Overman and produced by StudioCanal. It was reported that Butler might make a special appearance in the series.

Paris Has Fallen stars Tewfik Jallab, Ritu Arya, Sean Harris, Ana Ularu, Camille Rutherford, Jérémie Covillaut, Emmanuelle Bercot, and Karl Collins.

Paris Has Fallen is the spin-off of the Has Fallen franchise

The 'Has Fallen' franchise is an action thriller film series that deals with an elaborate plan to destabilize a government by terrorists, who are stopped by the Secret Service agent Mike Banning.

Banning's adventures include rescuing President Benjamin, played by Aaron Eckhart, from North Korean terrorists in Olympus Has Fallen. In 2016's London Has Fallen, Banning rescues the President again, while saving London from terrorists.

In his last outing Angel Has Fallen, Banning had to race against time again to clear his name from the accusation of attempted assassination of President Allan Trumbull, played by Morgan Freeman.

The Canal+ series will showcase another side of the same universe, where Paris is under attack and must be saved by brave agents. Three more films were announced to be in the series, with Night Has Fallen as the fourth installment. However, the project has been delayed due to a lawsuit and the Hollywood strikes.

Matthew Kassovitz was initially cast as the lead in Paris Has Fallen

Matthew Kassovitz, the actor and filmmaker who wrote and directed the iconic 1995 French film La Haines, was initially cast as the protagonist of the series. He has been part of films like Amelie and Munich as an actor. However, he opted out of the project due to creative differences.

Kassovitz was roped in to play Vincent Taleb, a protection officer to a French Minister. The role is now being played by Tewfik Jallab, known for the police procedural series Spiral.

Gerard Butler is not officially attached to the series, but it was reported that Mike Banning might show up to make things easier for Vincent and MI6 officer Zara, played by Ritu Arya.
