Peacock has revealed that Teacup will not be getting a second season, officially concluding the series after its first run. Variety first reported the announcement on January 17, 2025, marking an end to the uncertainty surrounding the show's future.

The cancellation means that Teacup, which launched in 2024, will remain a one-season series. Peacock's announcement did not detail the specific reasons for the cancellation, but Variety reports that it could not make it into the Neilson Top 10 streaming charts.

The announcement comes as networks and streaming services are focusing more on return on investment and audience measures to decide which programs advance. At present, there are no plans to revive the series on any other platform. The show's creator, cast, and production team have not issued any public statements about the announcement.

The factors leading to Teacup’s cancellation mainly center on its performance metrics. Although Peacock has not disclosed exact viewership figures, reports from Variety indicate that the series’ ratings did not meet expectations.

Teacup was characterized as an ambitious series, involving a narrative that demanded considerable investment in visual effects.

The show debuted to mixed reviews, holding a 6.4/10 rating on IMDb, with some reviewers lauding its horror elements but pointing out aspects where it failed to engage a broader audience. In spite of its attempts, the show failed to create the excitement or audience numbers seen with Peacock’s other content.
