Power Book II: Ghost season 4 episode 9 was released on Starz on September 27, 2024. The penultimate episode of the series, episode 9, contains character and plot elements that promise an explosive finale.
In episode 8, Noma and Carter were seen teaming up to defeat their mutual enemy, Tariq. In episode 9, their partnership takes effect as they lure Tariq and Monet into a death trap. Though the two manage to get out of the situation alive, Monet breathes her last by the end of the episode.

“A union that should bring the Tejadas and Noma together, couldn't appear to be further apart; Tariq and Monet are sent on a seemingly simple mission.”

Besides Monet's tragic and sudden demise, episode 9 also features a showdown between Tariq and Carter, Noma and Cane’s marriage, and Brayden’s confrontation with Carter, among other storylines. As things currently stand, the finale of Power Book II: Ghost season 4 is shaping into an intense and potentially violent conclusion.

Power Book II: Ghost season 4 episode 9 ending- Monet dies in the climactic shootout
When episode 9 begins, Noma and Carter have already devised a plan: they will lead Tariq and Monet to Staten Island, where a group of Russian gunmen will be waiting for them. However, Dru and Diana become aware of the conspiracy and warn the two individuals.
Tariq and Monet then strategize and come up with a plan. Brayden, Effie, and Tariq would try to take Carter down, while the others would try to take care of Noma. However, things do not go according to plan. Tariq is unable to decisively deal with Carter, who lets Noma know that not only is Monet alive, but she is also coming for her.
As a result, Noma, right after her wedding with Cane, asks him to decide between his mother, Monet, and herself. Cane’s reluctance to give up on his mother makes Noma physically tie him up. She further orders her men to take Dru and Diana away and kill them.
At this point, Monet bursts into the scene to defend her three children. A shootout ensues between her and Noma’s men, in which she bravely defends her kids. Monet, Dru, and Diana take down the gunmen together, but Monet is severely injured in the process.
The final scene of episode 9 produces one of the most cathartic moments of Power Book II: Ghost season 4. On the verge of death, Monet expresses her deep love for her children.
Cane, hitherto an estranged son, begs her to cling on to life. The season finale will deal with the ripple effects of Monet’s death.
What happens to Carter?
Detective Carter has been one step ahead of his adversaries throughout Power Book II: Ghost season 4. However, in episode 9, the tide turns. After Dru and Diana rescue Monet and Tariq from the Russian gunmen, Tariq decides to challenge Carter.
Tariq goes to the church that Carter frequents for confession and confronts the latter. Carter, however, placates Tariq by mentioning that he has a videotape that contains evidence that Tariq killed a gang member earlier in his career. This deals a severe blow to Tariq, and Carter leaves the scene, warning Noma that both Tariq and Monet are still alive. However, Carter does not get far from the church.
Brayden rises to the occasion in Power Book II: Ghost season 4 episode 9
In episode 8, Brayden was seen torturing and killing Steve, Elle’s drug supplier. The rashness of the act irritated Tariq. Overall, Brayden has been an unstable character in Power Book II: Ghost season 4, often making poor decisions.
However, in episode 9, he comes to Tariq’s rescue. As Carter walks out of the church, Brayden arrives at the spot in a car. High on cocaine, he rams Carter with the car, causing Carter to black out. The latter is then tied up. Thanks to Brayden’s timely intervention, the gangster is now in a difficult spot, giving Tariq time to strategize.
