Presumed Innocent episode 8 will be released on June 24, 2024, on Apple TV+. This will be the final episode of the Chicago-based fictional mini-series that revolves around prosecution attorney Rusty Sabich. The last episode will finally answer the question of whether Rusty is responsible for the murder of his former lover and colleague Carolyn Polhemus.

The previous episodes of the series have all hinted that Rusty is a bit of a gray character. His memories of the night of Carolyn's murder are sketchy, and he is known to have bursts of aggression. However, he vehemently claims that he did not kill Carolyn. Episode 8 will reveal if Rusty's claims are true and if someone else is the culprit for the crime after all.

The official summary of the upcoming episode simply reads:

"Season finale. The truth behind Carolyn's murder is revealed."

Since this will be the final episode of the series, episode 8 is expected to bring the plot to a conclusion and reveal who murdered Carolyn Polhemus. Currently, there are a few main suspects who may have done the deed: Rusty, Tommy Molto, Barbara, or Carolyn's son Michael.

The previous episode ended with a break-in at Tommy Molto's house, leaving the fire poker that supposedly killed Carolyn on his kitchen counter. Is Tommy's horrified expression an indicator that he had an accomplice in killing Carolyn? Perhaps someone who has now turned against him. Or is this just someone trying to pin the blame on another person?

The audience can now expect to see what exactly Rusty and Carolyn's conversation was about, what grudge Tommy held against Carolyn, and even the recurring motif of Kyle's discarded bicycle. The upcoming episode will fit all the pieces of the incomplete puzzle.
