1) Dionne Brown as Queenie Jenkins
Dionne Brown plays the titular character as an aspiring journalist dealing with heartbreak and a quarter-life crisis. Her story relates to many trying to make sense of their personal and professional lives in their mid-20s. Dionne is also known for her work in Criminal Record, where she starred opposite Peter Capaldi, and as a journalist in The Walk-In.
2) Samuel Adewunmi as Frank
Samuel Adewunmi plays Queenie's best friend and has been supporting her since they were in secondary school. He is a British actor known for his work in The Last Tree and You Don’t Know Me. He has received recognition, such as a BAFTA nomination. Samuel has also done some theater with his roles in Trouble in Butetown and A Mirror.
3) Bellah as Kyazike
Isobel Akpobire, known as Bellah, plays Queenie's best friend since childhood, Kyazike, who has hyped her throughout. Bellah is a singer and songwriter from London. She discovered her passion for music at a very young age after being influenced by 1990s R&B acts such as Destiny's Child and SWV. With her debut, Last Train Home, in 2019, she gained recognition with tracks like Never Loved.
4) Sally Phillips as Gina
Sally Phillips is a versatile actress, comedian, and television presenter. Her character, Gina, shares a professional relationship with Queenie and is her editor at The Daily Read. Sally is known for her roles in multiple comedy shows and films. She co-directed and wrote for Smack the Pony and showcased her work in films such as Prejudice and Zombies. She also appeared in series like Jam & Jerusalem and Miranda.
5) Jon Pointing as Tom
Jonathan Pointing is an actor, writer, and comedian. He plays Tom, Queenie's ex-boyfriend, who has never stood up for Queenie when it comes to his family's racist remarks about her. Tilly Keeper, as Darcy, is a colleague of Queenie at The Daily Read and works as the picture editor. She is known for her work as Louise Mitchell on the BBC soap opera EastEnders. She has also appeared in the BBC film Make Me Famous and the Netflix series You. Keeper began her career in 2004 in television commercials and then shifted to doing short films and big-screen films.
7) Llewella Gideon as Grandma Veronica
Llewella Gideon is an actress, comedian, and writer. She plays Queenie's grandmother and cares for her in her mother's absence. Gideon is known for her roles in comedy series such as Absolutely Fabulous, The Real McCoy, and The Crouches. She is also a voice-over artist and has given her voice in the UK version of Bob the Builder. She also wrote and worked in The Little Big Woman, a popular radio series.
8) Michelle Greenidge as Aunty Maggie
Maggie is the sister of Queenie's mother, Sylvie, and has been with her all through her 25-year journey. Michelle Greenidge is known for her roles in popular TV shows and films. She has worked on several renowned projects, such as Netflix's After Life, BBC Two's Mandy, Channel 4's It's a Sin, and the BBC sci-fi series Doctor Who. Greenidge started her career in 2009 and has ever since gained recognition for her work in the industry.
9) Joseph Marcell as Grandad Wilfred
Joseph Marcell is an actor and comedian. He plays Queenie's grandfather and is mostly seen pottering in his garden. He gained fame for his work as Geoffrey Butler in the sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Marcell studied speech and dance at the Central School of Speech and Drama. He has showcased his talent on stage, including performances with the Royal Shakespeare Company and at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre.
10) Melissa Johns as Janet
Melissa Johns is an actress and disability activist. She has worked in television shows such as Sadie in The Interceptor, Imogen Pascoe in Coronation Street, Hannah Taylor in Life, and Miss Scott in Grantchester. Johns was born without her right forearm and hand and has been a prominent voice for inclusivity and diversity in the entertainment industry.
11) Laura Whitmore
Laura Whitmore is an Irish media personality and model based in London. In Queenie, Laura plays Dr. Ellision, a gynecologist. She has worked as a video jockey for MTV and presented shows like This Morning, Survival of the Fittest, and Love Island.
