There is good news for all those awaiting confirmation on Resident Alien season 4. As it turns out, the highly anticipated fourth installment of the hit series is going on floors but a major change is taking place.

Almost two years after fans of the show started flooding social media platforms urging the makers to make Resident Alien season 4, on June 18, 2024, it was finally revealed that the show was being made.

However, the information came with a catch. It was revealed that the fourth installment of the show will no longer be a part of Syfy and will instead be moving to USA Network for a fresh start.

The official announcement from Syfy on their page concerning the project read:

"Thank you for your…Patience. If you've been wondering about the future of Alan Tudyk’s Dr. Harry Vanderspeigle and his extraterrestrial hijinks on Resident Alien, we've finally got some big news! Resident Alien Season 4 Is Officially Coming to USA Network."

It continued:

"The universe is aligned yet again, as Resident Alien has been renewed for a fourth season... with one very small, yet notable, change. The hit show is moving from SYFY to USA Network!"

An announcement from Resident Alien's official X page and Instagram page was also made, confirming the news.

Anticipated cast for Resident Alien season 4

As per the official announcement made by Syfy on June 18, 2024, Resident Alien has been picked up for a fourth season. While revealing the news of Resident Alien season 4 moving from Syfy to its sister channel, USA Network, Syfy's official page ensured that it was the only big change that would occur to the show.

Assuring the same, the page highlighted:

"Aside from that, everything about the hit sci-fi series remains the same — right down to the supporting cast members."Sara Tomko (Asta Twelvetrees), Corey Reynolds (Sheriff Mike Thompson), Alice Wetterlund (D’Arcy Bloom), Levi Fiehler (Mayor Ben Hawthorne), Elizabeth Bowen (Deputy Liv Baker), and Judah Prehn (self-appointed Alien Tracker Max Hawthorne).

This comment may be regarded as some sort of confirmation concerning the return of actors from the previous season of the show.

In that case, here is a list of all the people from the main cast who could return for Resident Alien season 4:

  • Alan Tudyk as Harry Vanderspeigle
  • Sara Tomko as Asta Twelvetrees
  • Judah Prehn as Max Hawthorne
  • Corey Reynolds as Sheriff Mike Thompson
  • Elizabeth Bowen as Deputy Olivia Baker
  • Levi Fiehler as Ben Hawthorne
  • Alice Wetterlund as D'arcy Bloom

Why is Resident Alien moving to a different network?

The reason behind the decision to shift Resident Alien to a different network has not been revealed, however, based on the trends observed in the industry in recent times, certain deductions can be made.

Resident Alien's viewership over the years has visibly tanked, with the show's latest season averaging at just 0.527 million viewers. Season 1 of the show was the most successful in terms of viewership. However, things started to downward spiral from season 2 onwards.

Now, with the decision of the makers to bring back the show, it seems logical to air Resident Alien season 4 on USA Network which has a more mass appeal than its sister channel, Syfy.

Telecasting episodes of the season on the network could warrant a much-needed boost in their viewership.

Resident Alien seasons 1 to 3 are currently streaming on Peacock, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV Plus, and Fandango at Home.
