Rivals is a British comedy-drama series based on Jilly Cooper's novel of the same name. The author and her literary agent, Felicity Blunt, are also among the show's executive producers. The series is directed by Elliot Hegarty and it is based on a screenplay by Dominic Treadwell-Collins and Laura Wade.
The story is set in 1986 and follows the rivalry between two wealthy men, Lord Tony Baddingham and Rupert Campbell-Black. Tony hires Irish newsman Declan O'Hara on his television station. However, matters get complicated when Rupert develops feelings for Declan's daughter, Taggie O'Hara, played by Bella Maclean.
David Tennant and Alex Hassell star as rivals Lord Tony Paddingham and Rupert Campbell-Black, respectively. It also stars Aidan Turner, Katherine Parkinson, Lisa McGrillis, Nafessa Williams, Emily Atack, and Danny Dyer in prominent roles.

Adrian Turner is playing Declan O'Hara in Rivals, a principled and dynamic Irish newsman and husband of an actress, Maud O'Hara. Declan is a complex character who is a talented and dedicated journalist, but he is also stubborn and possesses a fiery temper that gets him into conflict with people.
Turner's first uncredited screen appearance is in the show The Tudors. Later he acted in and produced a film titled Porcelain, but it was never released. He finally gained recognition for playing Ruairi McGowen in the series The Clinic.
4) Bella Maclean as Agatha Taggie O'Hara
Taggie O'Hara, played by Bella Maclean in Rivals, is among the unique characters in Cooper's Rutshire chronicles. She is sweet, gentle, and grounded compared to the people around her. However, she is not entirely delicate and has an inner strength that attracts Rupert's interest.
Bella Maclean made her acting debut in theatre with Spring Awakening, in which she played Martha. She appeared in short films Dragged Up and La La Means I Love You before making her Netflix debut with S*x Education season 4.
