Back in Silo season 2 episode 4, Bernard and Sims framed Knox and Shirley for Judge Meadows' death, thinking that the upper-level citizens would rally and eventually kill them. It would serve Bernard's goal of uniting the upper-level citizens and preventing the rebellion from the Deep Down to reach the rest of Silo 18.
However, Knox and Shirley successfully escaped to the Deep Down using cables and jumping several stories high. Walker appeared to have the chance to escape as well since no one recognized her face, but Carla was soon captured by the raiders. Meanwhile, in Silo 17, Juliette discovers that Solo has been lying to her, but an unattended injury puts her life at risk.
Silo season 2 episode 5 sees Knox and Shirley escape to the Deep Down
Knox and Shirley had been trying to evade the raiders and the angry people from the upper levels after Bernard and Sims framed them for Judge Meadows' death. But in Silo season 2 episode 5, they successfully escaped to the Deep Down using an ingenious and death-defying stunt.
After Bernard and Sims framed Knox and Shirley for Judge Meadows' death, as seen in Silo season 2 episode 4, they ran away with Walker and Carla. The goal was to return to the Deep Down before the raiders and the angry upper-level citizens could get to them. Carla had a plan—ask Calvin for help to bring them back to the Deep Down in exchange for something Juliette owned and some booze.
While Calvin promised to help them, they later found that the guy also called the raiders on them because he wanted the bounty on Knox and Shirley's heads. After the betrayal, they ran away again and decided to split up. Knox and Shirley went together, and Walker and Carla were supposed to partner as well. However, Carla told Walker to go on her own because she would be safer to return to the Deep Down that way. After all, no one recognized her. It ended with Carla getting arrested.
Meanwhile, Knox and Shirley managed to run a couple of floors down until some people intercepted them. They were attacked until an ex-raider, Sims' wife, Camille, took and hid them at level 73 in Asa's small room. It's unclear why Camille helped them, but before Asa left, he told Knox and Shirley to be wary and scared of Camille and to leave before the other woman returned.

Knox and Shirley soon left after they took a bit of rest, but instead of going back down the stains, they went up. They returned to Calvin and stole the descender rig. They used the rig's cable to rappel to the Deep Down. For the most part, their plan was successful until the new Judicial security head, Amundsen, took shots at the cable they used to rappel so they would fall and die.
However, people from Mechanical quickly helped Knox and Shirley, and apart from a gash on Knox's back, the two had safely returned to the Deep Down. Meanwhile, Walked chose a less adventurous way home in Silo season 2 episode 5. She went past the barricades after the people and the raiders started fighting each other.

Sims becomes the new Judge in Silo season 2 episode 5
Sims had been the head of security for Judicial, and he wanted to be Bernard's shadow. After Judge Meadows died, he assumed the new role of Judge, but it wasn't the promotion he hoped for.
Unfortunately for Sims, Bernard knew that he started the coup to get Judge Meadows impeached in the previous episode. The impeachment case was what Bernard claimed had forced him to poison and kill Judge Meadows to restore the peace among the upper-level citizens. In Silo season 2 episode 5, Bernard said that with Sims' decision, he forced him to do something he didn't want to do—kill Meadows.
All of that caused Bernard to lose trust in Sims, so his ambition to become Bernard's shadow is out of the question. However, Bernard knew that Sims was too useful for him to discard, so he removed him from being the head of security. In exchange, he gave Sims the position that was left open after Judge Meadows died.

Silo season 2 episode 5 reveals Solo's secrets
As chaos ensued in Silo 18 in Silo Season 2 episode 5, Juliette was dealing with her problems in the neighboring Silo. She still didn't have a fully working suit to return to Silo 18 safely, as she didn't have a mask to match the firefighter suit. She could retrieve a firefighter helmet underwater, but she wasn't keen on doing that.
While she was trying to explore Silo 17, she came across some papers mentioning a stolen helmet, so she went looking for that. But instead of finding the helmet, she finds out information about the people in Silo 17, including the fact that Tiny was Solo's girlfriend. The problem was that the Solo who was in the picture didn't look like the Solo Juliette knew. It looked like someone else.
Solo previously claimed that his real name was Cole Myers, but Juliette later found out that Cole Myers was someone else entirely—Solo was lying. When she confronted Solo about it, the guy exploded in a fit of rage. Juliette then ran away after realizing that Solo can be erratic and possibly dangerous.

Juliette's life is uncertain in Silo Season 2 episode 5
Throughout Silo season 2 episode 5, Juliette hasn't been looking well. At one point, Solo told her that she could be hungry, so he's going to get her some food. As the episode progressed, it became obvious that Juliette was suffering from someone more serious than hunger.
It turned out that the wound she sustained when she escaped Silo 18 in Silo Season 1 had become infected. The dressing hadn't been changed in all the days since Juliette arrived in Silo 17 in episode 1 of Silo season 2. When she opened the dressing, the wound made her arm appear like it was rotting. Just as she found the stolen helmet under the bed, she fainted.
