Sausage Party: Foodtopia, the sequel to the 2016 adult animated comedy film Sausage Party, which was directed by Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan. Apart from the lead role, Seth Rogen has multiple roles in the movie as one of the writers cast members, and producers. The film was designed as a parody of Disney and Pixar films.
Sausage Party: Foodtopia, unlike its prequel, is a television series, not a film. It features a few similar voices, while some new members have been added to the talented cast. The cast includes Edward Norton, Kristen Wiig, David Krumholtz, and Will Forte among others.
The series is scheduled to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on July 11, 2024.
Sausage Party: Foodtopia full cast list of the series
1) Seth Rogen as Frank
Sausage Party tells a bizarrely funny story of a sausage named Frank, played by Seth Rogen, who lived in a supermarket called Shopwell's. He and all the other food items think that the humans that come to the supermarket are some kind of gods who take the food items to some kind of heaven, that these poor edibles call 'Great Beyond'.
Frank, through a suicidal honey mustard jar, finds out the brutal truth about the outside world and plans to escape the place with his hot dog bun girlfriend Brenda. Seth Rogen is known for investing in crazy ideas and turning them into comedy gold. He has been attached to some of the best American comedy films of recent years, such as Superbad, This is the End, Neighbours, and Knocked Up.
2) Kristen Wiig as Brenda Bunson
Another comedic genius, Kristen Wiig, gained prominence through her work in the comedy sketches of the NBC series Saturday Night Live. For SNL, she received four nominations for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series between 2005 and 2012.
Wiig plays Brenda the hot dog bun in Sausage Party: Foodtopia. Brenda joined Frank in his mission to escape from the slaughter in the first film. Wiig wrote and starred in the blockbuster comedy film Bridesmaids, and has also been part of films like The Martian, Ghostbusters, and Wonder Woman 1984.
3) Michael Cera as Barry
Michael Cera, known for playing shy and awkward characters in popular films like Superbad and Scott Pilgrim vs the World, played another awkward character named Barry in Sausage Party: Foodtopia. In Sausage Party, Barry is a deformed hot dog, who dreams of going to the Great Beyond. He is often bullied and insulted for his size, but Frank always comes to his rescue.
Michael Cera has been a frequent part of Seth Rogen's projects. He has also been a part of acclaimed films like Molly's Game, The Lego Batman movie, and Greta Gerwig's Barbie.
4) David Krumholtz as Kareem Abdul Lavash
David Krumholtz is generally known for his role in popular comedy films such as 10 Things I Hate About You, Harold and Kumar film trilogy, and Slums of Beverly Hills. But he was recently seen in Christopher Nolan's Academy Award-winning film Oppenheimer as physicist Isidor Issac Rabi.
In Sausage Party: Foodtopia, the actor would revive his role as Kareem Abdul Lavash, whose name is a pun on the popular basketball player Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Lavash joins Frank, Brenda, and others in their mission to escape slaughter.
5) Edward Norton as Sammy Bagel Jr.
Edward Norton is one of the most celebrated actors in Hollywood. He is known for his intense performances in such films as Fight Club, American History X, Primal Fear, and Birdman.
In this hilarious comedy series, Norton is doing something very different from his usual choice of roles. He plays Sammy Bagel Jr., a bagel who gets knocked out of his cart with Lavash during the jar's suicide attempt. He later joins the others and fights back against the humans.
