SEAL Team season 7 episode 9, titled The Sea and the Hills, was released on Paramount+ on Sunday, September 29, 2024. The new episode promises new puzzles for the Bravo Team, following the discovery of a traitor who botched their mission.

Previously in SEAL Team season 7 episode 8, intel on Ramon Nazario and the drug syndicate brought Bravo into a chop shop where they found bags of fentanyl stuffed inside the upholstery of one of the vehicles parked in the compound. There, Jason, who takes the fentanyl issue personally after Mikey's OD, destroyed all the drugs. After a close call with Nazario's men, Jason left a trail of dead bodies.

Another intel brought the Bravo Team into one of Nazario's camps in the jungle. While they went there knowing that Nazario won't be there, their mission was to blow up the area and hopefully cripple his army. However, they were in for a bombshell after they found Ross Curtis, the supposed "trusted DEA informant" there instead.

The discovery complicates Bravo's mission in Honduras, and the penultimate episode teases more action-packed scenes as the elite SEAL Team continues to hunt Nazario and the traitor.

The Bravo Team captures Nazario in SEAL Team season 7 episode 9

Since SEAL Team Season 7 Episode 7, Bravo's mission in Honduras has been to uncover the Chinese-Nazario connection regarding the international fentanyl trade. They spent the next episodes of the series either trying to find evidence against the former Honduran Special Forces colonel or capture Nazario himself.

In episode 8, they tried to cripple his drug trade by destroying a stash of fentanyl and blowing up his camp in the jungle, although the latter was unsuccessful after the team discovered Ross Curtis' involvement. Their hunt for Nazario continues in episode 9, and as the title implies, Bravo searches the sea and the hills to find the man.

Early in the military flick's penultimate episode, Bravo gets an intel on Nazario's yacht. However, it is a trap as the team finds the boat empty, except for a couple of guards and rigged with explosives.

Thankfully, everyone jumps into the water and to safety in time before the yacht explodes, although Jason cuts it close after he returns to take the boat's GPS.

While the rest of Bravo isn't happy with Jason after he almost didn't make it out of the boat, the GPS he took gives them an intel on Nazario's whereabouts. It brings them to a coastal favela where Nazario is hiding, but it isn't a smooth mission for the team.

One of the neighbors finds them and alerts the rest of the neighborhood, allowing Nazario to escape even before Bravo reaches the house where he is staying.

Thankfully, they manage to track the car he used to escape, and finally, at the end of SEAL Team season 7 episode 9, the team manages to capture Nazario after several gunfights and close calls with the RPG of Nazario's men.

However, Jason and Drew, while present during the mission at the coastal favela, were noticeably missing during Nazario's capture, leaving the team under Ray's leadership.

Where did Jason and Drew go?

In the second half of the Bravo Team's mission to capture Nazario, Jason and Drew are missing. After the events at the coastal favela, the team is waiting for the chopper and car they can use to follow Nazario as he tries to escape.

However, someone from the US military arrives for Jason. He hands Jason a phone, and what he hears over the phone changes the trajectory of their op.

When Ray asks Jason what is happening, he tells him that he's been FRAGO'd (fragmentary order in army slang), which visibly upsets the rest of Bravo as they are in the middle of a high-stakes op.

However, Jason tells them that he can't say no because it will put Bravo on the wrong side of Command. He tells the team that they have to run the interdiction as planned but without him.

Jason leaves Bravo in Ray's hands, and he tells him to get the Bravo Team members home safely. However, as Jason prepares to leave, Drew approaches him on the driver's side, saying that he already lost one team leader and he's not about to lose another one.

In his own words, he tells Jason that he wants to come on whatever mission it is and be there in case Jason needs saving again. In the end, Jason allows Drew to come, but their destination remains uncertain at the end of SEAL Team season 7 episode 9.

That said, Jason's conversation with Ray before he and Drew depart gives some context about where they are. Jason tells Ray that the order comes from "higher than Command," adding that they want Ross Curtis.

When Ray tells Jason that "apprehending a Green Beret solo" is difficult, Jason remains silent, making Ray realize Jason's mission—assassinate Ross Curtis.

Jason reveals his secrets to Bravo in SEAL Team season 7 episode 9

Besides high-stakes missions, a lot of SEAL Team season 7's storyline revolves around each of the Bravo Team members' life beyond their missions. They have revealed part of their backstories throughout the season, from Drew's connection with Echo in SEAL Team season 7 episode 5 to Omar losing custody over his kid in episode 8.

In SEAL Team season 7 episode 9, Jason reveals to the team something that he's kept hidden for several episodes. He tells them that their fentanyl syndicate operations are personal to him, and he opens up about Mikey's overdose.

Moreover, during his talk with Ray, he reveals what he had told Ray to put inside the burn box—a string of prayer beads. He says that it was his trophy from his first kill.

Jason also tells Ray about how the mall attack in Sweden triggered nightmares of his first kill from some 20 years ago, to which Ray responds that the "memory lane is a minefield," which is why it's important for them to look forward instead of back.
