SEAL Team Season 7 premiered on Paramount+ on August 11, 2024, and with it came many important developments in each of the Bravo Team's lives as they continue their high-stakes missions worldwide.
Jason, aka Bravo 1, has left the team mid-operation to deal with family matters. Ray and the rest of the team grapple with operating without their leader. While Jason is back as of episode 7, his absence has teased a new dynamic for Bravo. Meanwhile, Ray is on the verge of retirement but doesn't appear excited to leave the team.
From Jason choosing to remain with Bravo or start a new role heading the TBI project stateside to Ray second-guessing his retirement plans, fans can expect a lot to go down as SEAL Team Season 7 hits its final couple of episodes.
What can fans expect from Jason, Ray, and the Bravo Team in SEAL Team Season 7?
Jason decides what his future will be
In the first half of SEAL Team Season 7, a lot has happened with Jason Hayes that could change the trajectory of his future as a SEAL and in the Navy. For one, his TBI has gotten worse, which is partly why he went home for Mikey's surgery at the end of Episode 5. He left the team mid-mission, which, while understandable, Ray had warned him about leaving in the middle of an operation.
While nursing Mikey after the surgery, Jason is yet again faced with difficulty after his son accidentally overdosed. In his conversation with Mandy in episode 7, he told her that he thought he could balance his life and family away from work, but Mikey's OD proved that he couldn't.
He also got another job offer to head the TBI project, a cause he has been passionate about since the beginning of the season. However, he was jaded about the prospect and even told Blackburn and Walch that carrying his rifle was how he made his mark.
As of episode 7, Jason has plenty of options for his future. He can retire and be there for his family, which he initially wanted. The other option is accepting the TBI project or continuing Bravo 1. With only several episodes left before the show ends, fans can expect Jason to choose his future.
If Jason continues being Bravo 1, the consequences of his worsening TBI could catch up to him. He's already showing symptoms, like getting stuck in his head and losing focus. It hasn't happened yet during their mission, but it could in the future. Drew saved his life while Bravo was in Sweden, but he might not be as lucky in their subsequent missions.
Ray is second-guessing his retirement
Throughout SEAL Team Season 7, the rest knew Ray would be out of Bravo soon. He will solely focus on Spencer House and Clay's legacy of helping veterans recover after combat. That future has been set in stone—it's not a matter of if, but when.
However, in SEAL Team Season 7 Episode 6, Ray felt guilty about leaving the Bravo Team by themselves during a mission where they were ambushed and could have died. Although he was stuck on an important negotiation at that time, which was why he wasn't on the ground, that didn't lessen his guilt about failing the team.
In episode 7, during one of his conversations with his wife, Naima, Ray expressed feeling anxious about leaving the team. He said that retiring feels like abandoning his brothers. More on Ray's next move about his retirement is expected to play out.
The Bravo Team's secrets and their new dynamic
There are only a few more episodes in SEAL Team Season 7, but many secrets within the Bravo Team have yet to come out. Bravo knows about Drew being part of the Echo Team, but much about his family remains a secret. He already has a journalist sniffing about his family, and it's only a matter of time before his personal matters and family controversies get revealed.
Also, Sonny's assault on Colonel Decker hasn't been revealed. However, early in season 7, the concerned Lisa told him the investigation was ongoing. His involvement in the incident could be revealed in the coming episodes, which could have dire consequences for Sonny.
Fans can expect the entire Bravo SEAL Team to undergo even more dangerous missions as the season nears its end. As of season 7, they've left Southeast Asia for Honduras with new intel on the fentanyl precursor and China's involvement in it.
