At the start of the episode, Mari shows enthusiasm for joining an off-world expedition, inspired by her friend Calen. However, her father, Nik, strongly opposes the idea of her going on such a dangerous journey. Nevertheless, Mari's adventurous spirit compels her to pursue something she is truly passionate about.

When she encounters Rafe Sabatine (Rafael), whose ship her father was fixing, she is immediately captivated by the news of artifacts spread in Scotia.

A few days later, during a conversation with a colleague, Nik discovers that Rafe had stolen the ship from his family, who were unwilling to pay for its repair. Just as the colleague warns Nik that Rafe could be trouble, they hear a loud noise followed by a bright flash of light and fire as Rafe's ship takes off with Mari onboard.

As Rafe and Mari journey across galaxies in search of artifacts, Nik, Mari's father, closely follows them. He even strikes a deal with the Celestials, a group of otherworldly and powerful beings also hunting for them, to reach their location faster and protect them from their deadly assault.

Nik manages to contact Mari through an intercom system, but before he can physically intervene, the Celestials unleash a brutal attack on Mari and Rafe with weapons capable of disintegrating them in an instant. With a little assistance from Nik, Mari survives the attack, although she is gravely injured. Sadly, she is unable to save Rafe, whose ship is destroyed in the depths of space.

By the end of this sequence, it appears that Mari has endured the war. However, that is far from true. She is deeply wounded, and the time dilation effects from her intergalactic travels have aged her several years, rendering her injuries beyond healing. As a result, she ultimately succumbs to her wounds and her father watches her die in the hospital bed.

The ending of Secret Level episode 11 shows that Mari successfully retrieved the artifact she and Rafe had been searching for across galaxies. However, she was unable to deliver it to Lidon herself to help make the place "less of a frozen hellscape."

After her tragic demise, Mari's father takes on the responsibility of delivering the orb they found. He brings it to Kara Voss, who is actively working to improve living conditions in Lidon, just like his daughter did.

Nik introduces himself as a friend of Kara's grandmother, Thady, mentioning that he owes her a debt. He then offers the orb as a way to repay that debt. When Kara points out that the orb is worth more than all the ships in Lidon, Nik replies that he figured he owed a bit of interest on his debt.

The episode concludes with Nik continuing Mari's legacy by embarking on an expedition, possibly to distant galaxies, in search of more artifacts.
