"In 2016, father Craig Rideout is reported missing after a strange home intrusion; within hours, police find a body matching Craig's description fifty miles away; using surveillance footage and forensics, detectives unravel an unbelievable plot."
How was Laura Rideout arrested along with her sons?
According to the Rochester First Daily, 50-year-old Craig Rideout was found dead in July of 2016. His sister, Robbyn, had reported her brother missing on July 19, 2016, and the very next day, a body was discovered in Jerusalem, Yates County.
Craig's body was found wrapped in a tarpaulin and disfigured by acid, and was identified through dental records, according to ABC 13 WHAM. As the missing case turned into a homicide investigation, the authorities picked up on surveillance footage from roadsides and businesses to find Laura Rideout and her sons, Colin and Alexander, purchasing Liquid Lightning Drain Opener and a square-edged shovel from Walmart stores.
The brothers were caught on camera disposing of trash bags containing drain cleaner, gloves, bloodied clothes, and a homemade garrote in the Mendon Ponds Park pond called Devil's Bathtub. The forensic tests tied the trio to the blood on the clothes.
Where are Laura, Colin, and Alexander Rideout?
Investigators discovered evidence linking Laura Rideout and her sons, Colin and Alexander, to Craig Rideout's murder, leading to their arrests and subsequent charges. The mother and sons underwent trial in July 2017.
Laura was found guilty of charges of second-degree murder, tampering with physical evidence, and burglary. She was sentenced to 25 years to life. While Laura had another 15 years added to her sentence for the burglary charge, Colin was not found guilty of burglary.

The mother and eldest son were served the maximum term for their charges, while Alexander Rideout and Paul Tucci were acquitted of the murder charges. Alexander was sentenced to 2 years and 8 months to 8 years in prison for tampering with evidence.
However, he had served time at the Greene Correctional Facility in Coxsackie, Greene County. He was released in March 2021 under parole. Paul Tucci was found not guilty of murder and tampering with evidence. He walked out of court a free man, according to the Democrat and Chronicle.
