Set on the fictional planet of Etheria, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power followed the story of Adora, voiced by Aimee Carrero. The plot kicked in when she discovered a magical sword that transformed her into She-Ra, the Princess of Power.

The story then proceeded with Adora joining a Rebellion to fight an evil force named the Horde, a cause that also gained her the support and help of fellow magical princesses.

In its five seasons, it carried 52 episodes, with famed names such as Karen Fukuhara and AJ Michalka among its core cast.

Similar to Gravity Falls, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power also has the themes of loyalty, tight-knit bonds, quests, and Easter eggs.

2) Over the Garden Wall (Hulu)

Two half-brothers, Wirt and Greg, finding themselves in a mysterious forest formed the central narrative of Over the Garden Wall. With the mystery factor being strange creatures, the show skillfully blended them into its storyline of fantasy, horror, and folklore with a pinch of humor and whimsicality.

As the two struggled to return home, a bluebird named Beatrice joined them to help. A terrifying creature named the Beast, who roamed the woods, added the necessary tension.

For those coming from Gravity Falls, Over the Garden should win over with its running traits of sibling love, responsibility, overcoming fears, dealing with the unknown, and personal growth.

3) The Owl House (Disney+)

Heartwarming, empowering, and adventurous define both Gravity Falls and The Owl House. The story of the latter revolves around a 14-year-old girl, Luz Noceda, who accidentally stumbled upon a portal to the ‘Demon Realm’.

Thereafter, the young soul went on a journey of self-discovery as she landed on an archipelago formed from the remains of a dead titan. Befriending a witch, Eda Clawthrone, aka The Owl Lady, she soon became an apprentice at the Owl House.

This unlikely friendship then moved ahead to the battle between good and evil, with Emperor Belos being the latter.

Well-developed characters, clever and witty dialogues, acclaimed animation, and passionate fan bases would connect The Owl House with Gravity Falls.

An engaging storyline to captivate younger audiences, along with a mature narrative for older viewers, makes Amphibia a perfect match for Gravity Falls. Friendship, courage, evolving relations, and deep character arcs are central to both shows.

In three seasons, Amphibia aired 58 episodes, including a special one that briefly crossed over with The Owl House.

As for the story, it had Brenda Song’s Anne Boonchuy as a 13-year-old girl magically transported to the wild and mysterious marshland of Amphibia. Fantastic creatures such as conscious frogs greeted her. Separated from her friends, the protagonist sought to find her way after being taken in by the Plantar family.

Loyalty and heritage came into play in this series that also dove deep into good versus evil. With a healthy mix of appealing animation and complex moral messages for mature viewers, Star vs. the Forces of Evil had 77 episodes across four seasons.

The story followed Star Butterfly, a young princess from the Mewni dimension. Following her reckless behavior after receiving a magically powerful family wand on her 14th birthday, she gets sent to Earth to learn discipline. Befriending a human boy, she then balanced high school and battling villains from across dimensions.

Lastly, strong dialogues, serious themes, hidden secrets, and the importance of trust would hook audiences from Gravity Falls.

Rich, fantastical worlds full of mysteries, unique creatures, supernatural secrets, and adventure are common in both Hilda and Gravity Falls. Moreover, the former went an extra step in balancing humor with more serious themes that give rise to deep character storylines.

An 11-year-old girl, Hilda, with standout blue hair moves away from her home in the wilderness to a sprawling city, Trolberg. Accompanied by her ‘deerfox’ and friends, Frida and David, she embarks to explore a magical world around her.

34 episodes across three seasons, along with a movie, Hilda has an enchanting world of nature and magic brought to life by acclaimed voice-acting and world-building, again like Gravity Falls.

7) Infinity Train (Prime Video)

True to its name, Infinity Train took place on a seemingly infinite train traveling through a barren landscape in an alternate dimension. Each car on the chain was a mini-universe of its own. Complete with its own rules and environments, every compartment’s unique settings served a diverse and equally vast storyline.

Regardless of certain central characters, the plot gave enough room for the self-discovery and personal growth of each passenger. In turn, every one of those travelers came from the real world with unresolved trauma or emotional issues.

A narrative as advanced and intricate as the aforementioned, Infinity Train should immensely appeal to those who have appreciated Gravity Falls for its strong characters and relatability.

8) Adventure Time (Hulu, Max)

10 seasons and 283 episodes had Adventure Time centered around a human boy, Finn, and his adoptive brother, a dog, Jake, with the ability to talk and change size and shape.

Living in the post-apocalyptic Land of Ooo, the story features adorable characters like Princess Bubblegum, Ice King, and the Lich, among whom the theme of good versus evil was split.

Gravity Falls is still one of the most loved animated shows, and has remained a family watch for years. In recent times, talks of its renewal have also surfaced. However, with no truth to them thus far, viewers can instead enjoy the recommendations listed.
