With Shrinking season 2 coming close to an end, and things are not all right with Jimmy. The season began with Jimmy trying to get his patient out of prison who pushed her fiance off a cliff. Throughout the season Jimmy continued his pattern of brushing off his issue under the pretext of overindulging in his patient's lives, and this time again it was Paul who called him out.
At the end of the episode, Jimmy realized that he was not doing okay and called Paul to share his feelings. The episode also delved into Sean's struggle to move out of Jimmy's poolhouse, Derek's calling out Gaby for shutting him out, and Paul's struggle with his Parkinson's.
However, not everything was sad and complicated in the episode as Brian and Charlie got the news that they were finally getting a baby. Shrinking season 2 episode 11 titled, The Drugs Don't Work, was released on Apple+ on December 18, 2024.

Jimmy calls Paul at the end of Shrinking season 2 episode 11
Alice wanted to continue to help Louis, the guy whose carelessness led to her mother's death. However, Jimmy was not only against this, he also forbade Louis to see Alice. In the last episode, Alice got to know about it and had since been bitter towards her father.
Episode 11 began with Jimmy seeking Liz's help to make Alice understand his situation. However, as expected, Liz caved too quickly and instead of being in Jimmy's corner, took Alice's side.
Jimmy continued Jimmying, his method of therapy where he overindulges in his patient's lives. In Shrinking season 2 episode 11, this involved a patient who 'accidentally' kidnapped her neighbor's dog. Paul called out Jimmy for avoiding his unresolved trauma, but Jimmy assured him that he was fine.
However, near the end of the episode, Jimmy realized that he might not be doing as well as he thought he was doing and called Paul, who himself was struggling with Parkinson's, as his medication has not been effectively working. Jimmy confessed to Paul that he had been regressing and broke down in tears.
Sean is struggling to move out
Another important storyline in Shrinking season 2 episode 11 was about Sean, the young veteran, suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. He had been living in Jimmy's poolhouse for a long time and had become close to Jimmy's friends and neighbors.
In the episode, he shared with Brian and Derek that he was thinking of moving out as he was doing better in therapy and as his business was going well. Derek, out of generosity, offered him a property that he owned. However, Sean seemed uneasy with the idea, which led Derek to think that Sean got offended by his offer, perceiving it as charity.
Derek and Brian apologizeed to Sean, but Sean revealed that he wasn't offended by their offer, but it was the thought of moving out that got him emotional. He shared that he doesn't feel ready to move out of Jimmy's poolhouse.
Brian and Charlie are getting a baby
Brian and Charile's quest for parenthood had been another important storyline in Shrinking season 2. Initially, Brian was uncomfortable with the idea of becoming a father, but slowly he realized that he was ready. Unfortunately, the mother chose another couple for her baby over them.
Brian tried to maintain his cool for a moment, but almost immediately shared his disappointment and fear of not ever getting a baby for adoption. However, by the end of the episode, he got a call from the mother, who told him that she had chosen them for her baby, instead of the other couple.
When Brain shared this news with the group, Liz and Gaby rejoiced and hugged each other. Liz and Derek were now over their marital problem but Gaby and Derek's relationship was still in turmoil. As Gaby, while advising Alice on breaking up methods, shared that her method of breaking up with someone was by distancing the person from her life, Derek realized that this was what Gaby had been doing to him.
When Derek confronted her about it, she denied trying to distance him from her life. However, she did confess that she has been struggling to open up and fully allow him in her life. As there is only one episode left in Shrinking season 2, fans have a lot to look forward to in the season finale next week.
