Silo season 1 finale prepared viewers for an engaging season two of the show, which is set to premiere on Apple TV+ this Friday, November 15, 2024. It featured Rebecca Ferguson's character, Juliette Nichols, finally choosing to venture outside the silo to determine whether the outside conditions were as dire as the residents of the structure had been led to think.

This decision came after Nichols chose to go against the norm, defying the established order of life inside the silo. Throughout Silo Season 1, she and the other characters believed that death awaited anyone who ventured outside the compartmentalized living space, which adhered to strict codes of conduct and enforced a rigid hierarchy to maintain control over its inhabitants.

How many casualties were registered in Silo season 1?

One of the first deaths to have occurred in Silo season 1 was that of Allison Becker, played by Rashida Jones, who, along with her husband Holston Becker (played by David Oyelowo), was attempting to bring a child into the world.

When they were weighing in all the possibilities and how they should be going about them, Allison and Holston discovered that only specific individuals within the silo were authorized to produce their offspring. What's more, they also found that the choice did not rest with those who were creating the offspring but rather with a select group of higher-ups who controlled the operations of the silo.

To reveal answers related to this and in the hope of discovering the true nature of life beyond the silo, Allison reached out to a person named George, who worked at ground level. He shared highly valuable information about the silo, which prompted Allison to venture outside to determine if death truly awaited her there. As the season unfolded, it became clear that Allison had met her demise after stepping foot outside of the silo.

Allison's death put Holster in a very bad position mentally, as he struggled to lead his life in the absence of his wife. While investigating her death, Holster crossed paths with Juliette, who identified herself as George's friend. She revealed that George had died, and while everyone believed that he died by suicide, she believed that he was murdered.

After this discovery, both Holster and Juliette began to look into the issues within the silo. However, the former was unable to continue for an extended period as he chose to leave the silo to be with his wife, which finally cost him his life. As a result, on Holster's request, Juliette was appointed as the Sheriff of the silo after his passing.

Why did Juliette Nichols step outside in Silo season 1?

As Silo season 1 progressed, it became more and more clear to Juliette Nichols that the people in power within the silo were hiding something very important from the regular people residing in it.

Although she initially did not know what it was, her quest for knowledge drove her to uncover the truth. Her desire to investigate the death of her friend George, who was later revealed to be her romantic interest, set her on a path of discovery.

One of the truths that she discovered was the fact that life outside the silo was not exactly how people in hierarchical positions inside claimed it to be. She wanted to prove this to others and find out for herself. However, in the absence of sufficient evidence to substantiate this assertion, Juliette decided to step outside the silo.

However, before doing so, she discovered that everyone who had exited the silo previously was given faulty suits that were taped together, allowing polluted air from outside the silo to seep in, eventually leading to their deaths.

Juliette ensured her suit wasn't faulty when she prepared to step out. She also refused to clean the camera she had on her. As she stepped outside the silo, a glitch occurred in the camera footage, enabling Juliette to see the outside world in its true state without any alterations.

Silo season 1 demonstrated that, unlike others who instantly perished after leaving the silo, Juliette managed to survive for an extended duration. It is revealed that over 40 silos were constructed surrounding the central silo.

The second season of Silo will explore the events that unfolded after Juliette Nichols exited the silo in Silo season 1.
