The mystery of the Silos continues with a series of merciless twists, turns, and revelations in Silo season 2 episode 8, The Book of Quinn. The latest episode, which aired on Apple TV+ on Friday, January 3, 2025, brought some harsh plot developments following the cliffhanger ending of the previous episode.

As seen in Silo season 2 episode 7, Solo was nowhere in sight when Juliette came up from the dive. But, there were splatters of blood, implying that Solo had been wounded or possibly even dead. That means there are other people in Silo 17 besides Juliette and Solo, which also means there is trouble waiting.

Silo season 2 episode 8 showed Juliette what trouble lies just a few levels up of Silo 17, as she met with a couple of armed people who claimed to have killed Solo. Although Juliette told them that she didn't want to fight and only wanted her things from Solo, their meeting ended in an altercation, putting Juliette's life in danger.

Silo season 2 episode 8 sees Juliette meet Solo's killers in an action-packed scene

Silo season 2 episode 8 saw Juliette Nichols meet the other people taking refuge in Silo 17. Unlike what Solo told her before, he wasn't the only survivor of the abandoned Silo, as there were others like him and they were not exactly on good terms.

Following the events of Silo season 2 episode 7 in Silo 17, when Juliette discovered that Solo might be in trouble, she investigated by following the traces of blood. However, before she could discover what happened to him, her body started breaking down. Back when she dived, Solo had told her that it could happen if she swam back up quickly, but at the time, Juliette had no choice.

So, Juliette went back down to the water to let the effect subside and came back up only to find someone armed with a bow and arrow. She couldn't see their face because of the darkness but the person had a man's voice. He told Juliette to stop, but she replied that he needed something from the man they took, Solo.

However, the man told her that he killed Solo and that he would kill her too if she didn't go away. Juliette still reasoned with him, which ended with her being injured with an arrow to the chest. But the injury didn't stop Juliette from trying to get what she needed from Solo, so after tending to her wound using the first aid kit in her room, she went back up.

And while they claimed to have killed Solo, Juliette didn't find any dead body.

Walker snitches on Mechanical in Silo season 2 episode 8

Silo season 2 episode 8's official logline from Apple TV teases Bernard making an offer to Walker, and as expected, it was all about McLain, who Judicial has captured. She met with Bernard after she was summoned to fix the pump.

There, Bernard told Walker all about knowing her connection to McLain and that he could let her see McLain in exchange for her being his eyes at the Down Deep. He told Walker that he only needed to know what Mechanical was planning so he could do something about it.

As seen early in Silo season 2 episode 8, Knox and Shirley were planning to climb up and raid the Supply level for some medical necessities. Walker was opposed to the idea as she wanted to focus on saving McLain instead. However, Knox and Shirley said that saving McLain would be even more dangerous for everyone and that supplies were running out.

While the episode didn't show Walker explicitly agreeing to help Bernard, it was implied that she told him about what Mechanical was planning. It was because when Teddy and his team were about to ransack the Supply rooms, the raiders were inside and waiting for them.

Unfortunately for Walker, Bernard was a little cheeky with their agreement. While he let her see McLain so she could confirm that she was alive, he didn't free McLain, which was what Walker had expected him to do.

Instead, he roped Walker into becoming his eyes from the Down Deep until he took care of the chaos. He also had Walker turn on the camera so he could have eyes down there and Walker wouldn't be allowed to go out of her workshop.

Silo season 2 episode 8 title meaning explained

Lukas Kyle in Silo season 2 episode 8 (Image via Apple TV+)

Silo season 2 episode 8 is titled The Book of Quinn, which was the key to Lukas Kyle's mission. Since Bernard employed him away from the mines in Silo season 2 episode 5 and until he becomes Bernard's shadow in episode 6, Lukas had one mission—decipher Salvador Quinn's coded message.

Bernard had brought him inside the vault, the secret library where thousands of relics were stored, to give him all the resources he needed. Lukas thought that the codes required one of Quinn's books, which was over a hundred years old, and was available in the Silo because he wanted people to decipher the message. However, his efforts didn't pan out, and Judge Meadows' old Wizard of Oz book wasn't any help either.

In Silo season 2 episode 8, he thought that Quinn's book might still be in his descendants' possession, so he found them. However, he found out that Judge Meadows had already reached out to the family seeking Quinn's books years ago and that she had the last one. Quinn's family revealed that the book was his copy of The Pact, which Lukas later found in the Sims office, who was now the Judge.

After attempting to decipher Salvador Quinn's message using different kinds of books and relics, Silo season 2 episode 8 saw Lukas Kyle finally uncover the coded message. Using Salvador Quinn's copy of The Pact, he deciphered the code, which reads:

"If you've gotten this far you already know the game is rigged."

Lukas did not reveal to Bernard that he completed the mission. Although he decoded the message, it didn't seem like Lukas knew what it meant.
