The upcoming docuseries, Simone Biles Rising, exclusive on Netflix, will give fans and viewers an insider look at the four-time Olympic gold medalist's fight to return to the global stage. The production follows the Olympian's "unfinished business" two years after she took time off following the 2020 Tokyo Games.
The four-episode docuseries premieres on July 17, just days before the Opening Ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics. According to Netflix, the upcoming series documents "one of the most powerful comebacks in history." The official logline reads:
"Follow gymnast Simone Biles as she balances her personal life, mental health journey, and training ahead of a highly anticipated return to the Olympics."

1) Simone Biles
Simone Biles will open up about her journey from the setbacks of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics to preparing for the 2024 Paris Games in Simone Biles Rising. From battling mental blocks that forced her to drop out in Tokyo and take a mental break to possibly skipping the Paris Olympics and later deciding to return to the gym, the Olympian gets candid about her journey over the past couple of years.
Biles had already cemented her GOAT status in gymnastics with seven Olympic medals, including four gold, and 30 World Championship medals, including 23 gold.
2) Jonathan Owens
St. Louis native Jonathan Owens, Simone Biles' husband, plays a significant role in the upcoming documentary. Their wedding is featured in the Simone Biles Rising trailer, along with Owens' interview, giving a glimpse into the Olympian's life outside of the mat.
Owens is also a successful athlete who entered the NFL in 2019 with the Arizona Cardinals and is currently playing for the Chicago Bears. He has appeared in 48 regular seasons since his rookie year.

3) Nellie Biles
Nellie Biles, Simone's biological grandmother and adoptive mother, has been at almost every one of her competitions, except one, and she will be featured in the documentary as well. Nellie previously told People ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Games about always being present at Simone's competitions, saying:
"She always knows where we are sitting, it doesn't matter the arena. If she's in a competition, she'll look and I'll wave and we make a connection."
In the Netflix documentary trailer, Nellie can be seen supporting her daughter when she decides to take a mental break after Tokyo, saying:
"We want to make sure that she's in a great place."
4) Aly Raisman
American retired artistic gymnast Aly Raisman will also be featured in Simone Biles Rising, providing additional perspective on Simone's journey as a friend and fellow athlete.
Raisman is a two-time Olympian and was the captain of the Fab Five/Fierce Five in the 2012 London Olympics, as well as the Final Five in the 2016 Olympics in Rio, where she was teammates with Simone Biles.
5) Cecile Canqueteau-Landi
French gymnastics coach and former artistic gymnast Cecile Canqueteau-Landi will also be featured in the docuseries, as seen in the Simone Biles Rising trailer. She is currently the women's gymnastics co-head coach at the University of Georgia and has been Simone's coach since 2017. She was also a head coach at the Houston World Champions Center, which is owned by Simone's parents.

The Netflix docuseries is directed and written by Katie Walsh. She also directed Simone Biles' 2021 documentary Simone vs. Herself. Her other directing credits include TV specials like Superbowl XL and The 2018 ESPY Awards, as well as several episodes of the TV show Marvel's Hero Project.
The executive producers of the series include Religion of Sports' Gotham Chopra, Giselle Parets, Ameeth Sankaran, and Janey Miller, the same people behind her 2021 documentary.
