Corey Lee Story was born on December 2, 1968, to parents Hardy M. Story and Earnestine Story. He grew up with his siblings Cora Ester Story, William G. Story, Teri T Story, Murry Tate, Larry, Charles, Travis W. Story, Rosie M. Story, Fostene (Ross) Fox, Mary Dickerson, Evelyn J. Story, and Mildred (Nathaniel) Richardson.
Corey met Cynthia Coates in 2011, and the two became close over time. Cynthia's husband, Louis, had suffered multiple strokes, which rendered him paraplegic. However, Corey allegedly cared for both Cynthia and Louis after he moved into their house in 2012, per Oxygen. Corey was also one of three appointed caregivers of Cynthia's friend, Tommie Hammock Jr.
After two years, Corey allegedly called off the relationship with Cynthia as she was a married woman. He had reportedly moved out two weeks before his murder on October 25, 2014.

Snapped season 24 episode 8 brings the death of the 45-year-old Corey Story as he was shot to death on October 25, 2014, per Kokomo Tribune. Corey had been shot twice - once at the back of his head and another time to his back.
According to the Kokomo Tribune, Tommie returned home to find the garage door open with Corey Story's car in the driveway. He saw Corey shot to death in his master bedroom and lying on the floor unresponsive.
"Other than Mr. Story’s body lying there, everything else appeared to be normal, with the exception of two spent shell casings," Scott Purtee, Kokomo Police Detective, told Oxygen.
The authorities determined the gunshot wounds to be from a .38 caliber gun, which was coincidentally one of the guns that Tommie owned and had been missing. There were no signs of forced entry, but Corey's cell phone and car keys were missing from the crime scene.
The authorities were inclined to believe that it was Tommie who had killed Corey with his gun, but besides the fact that he was wheelchair-ridden, his alibi checked out. Tommie had been at Louis's birthday party and had been picked up from his 1000 block of Quail Run Drive home by Cynthia herself.
As the investigations began, the officers received two tips, which led them to their primary suspect, Cynthia Coates. Coates had allegedly been angry over her break-up with Corey and, hence, took his life. However, there were accusations of abuse from Corey's side as well, which led people to believe that Cynthia was driven off the edge.
