The Snapped: Women Who Kill episode showcases the murder of Corey Story as it re-airs on July 9, 2024, at 11 p.m. EST on Oxygen. The official synopsis reads,

"When a man returns home from a party and finds his caregiver shot to death, detectives must sift through a complicated network of animosity and resentment to find their killer."

How was Cynthia Coates arrested?

The 45-year-old Corey Story was found dead at the 1000 block of Quail Run Drive by Tommie Hammock Jr on October 25, 2014, per the Kokomo Tribune. Tommie had suffered a stroke and had been bound to his wheelchair since. He had employed three caregivers and Corey was one of them.

According to Oxygen, Corey had grown close to one of Tommie's family friends, Cynthia Coates, who had also been nurturing her wheelchair-bound husband. They were acquainted since 2012 after which he took responsibility for Tommie. While the first suspect in the case was Tommie, his alibi checked out as he had been at Cynthia's husband, Louis' birthday party.

After Corey's death in October 2014, the investigators were informed of his romantic relationship with Cynthia. Corey had reportedly moved out of Cynthia's home two weeks before his murder as he was allegedly not comfortable with the idea of living with a married woman.

Suspicion arose when it was reported that Cynthia had gone missing from Louis' party for two hours to get her car washed but returned with it unwashed. Moreover, the police received an anonymous tip claiming that Cynthia had confessed to her daughter, Angel Benson, about having shot someone.
