The murder of Charlie Cammisano in 2007 led to a long-drawn investigation and the conviction of Letti Strait in 2020. Charlie had been the primary legal guardian of Letti and his five children when he was shot to death in his Riverside home in 2007.

The investigators matched the DNA on Charlie's missing Jeep Cherokee with the samples taken from Letti's cigarette butts which added to the inconsistent alibi and recovery of the murder weapon. Strait and her husband, Terry, were arrested for first-degree murder, per The Platte County Citizen. While Terry was sentenced to 14 years, Letti is presently serving her life in prison.

Who was Letti Strait? Details explored

Letti K. Rivera was one of the waitresses at Charles "Charlie" Cammisano's father's chain of restaurants. At the time, Charlie Cammisano was working odd jobs at his father’s restaurants and trying to make a mark outside the reputation of his extended family. Charlie was the nephew of the Kansas City mob boss, William Cammisano.

Letti Rivera grew up in a religious family in Nebraska. She had a conservative upbringing which worked against her as she fled from home and briefly settled with a boyfriend with whom she shared a daughter, per Oxygen. Letti's friend, Meryl Rowan, spoke to Snapped to share,

“[Letti] was tough and she was good-looking and she was funny. She just didn't take any flack from anybody,”

Charlie had had a boy and a girl with a previous girlfriend before he started dating Letti. The two dated for 19 years before they got married in 1999. Charlie and Letti divorced one another in July 2003 and shared five children in the meantime. Letti went on to date a local, brawny man named Terry Strait whom she married two months after her divorce from Charlie.
