The finale of the fourth season of The Boys will be released on July 18, 2024, on Amazon Prime Video. However, this episode, titled Assassination Run, has suddenly become a trending topic of discussion on the internet following the assassination attempt on Donald Trump.
As per reports from CNN, the gunman who attempted to assassinate Trump, Thomas Matthew Crooks, was soon apprehended and killed by Secret Service agents. In the latest episode of The Boys, titled The Insider, we learn that a similar assassination attempt is set to be carried out against Robert Singer, the president-elect of the USA.
Following the Trump incident, fans of the show have taken to X to share their thoughts on the alleged coincidental similarities between the plan shown in The Insider and what happened in real life just a few hours ago.

The show has always been known for making several references to real life events, but this particular 'prediction' has caused quite a stir on X.
"They out her making predictions like The Simpsons," said one user.
"LMFAO literally. It's crazy to me that this show is just so good at being a parody but also mimicking our own lives in this world," added another.
Some X-users appear to have found direct similarities between the situations of Trump and the fictional Robert Singer, with many saying that Singer will have to face in the next episode of the series what Trump had to at the rally.
Other similarities between reel and real life have reportedly been found as well.
"why was the starlight vs homelander protests scene in the boys the first thing i thought about after seeing trump was shot at during his rally," wrote one netizen.
"What’s the difference between Trump getting shot and people blaming it on Biden and Homelander blaming his supporters death on Starlighters," added another.
More elaborate conspiracy theories are also doing their rounds on the internet. One user has posited the theory that all of this could be part of 'Sage's plan'. Sage was fired by Homelander in the previous episode, and within two days of that, an attempt was made on Trump's life.
With The Boys coming into the spotlight in an unlikely fashion, it now remains to see what happens in the finale of the season.
The assassination plot in The Boys
A direct reference to Trump reportedly comes in The Boys episode 7 of season 4 when Ashley talks about the new Homelander NFTs which are a spoof of Donald Trump’s collection.
In the party at Tek Knight's mansion, it was revealed that Homelander, Victoria Neuman, and The Sage were all allegedly orchestrating an assassination attempt against SInger, so that Neuman, his deputy, could take charge of affairs.
The Boys already know of the plot since the meeting at Tek Knight’s mansion was bugged. However, In the latest episode, they struggle to find out who this shooter could be.
However, the viewers see that a shapeshifter has reportedly been hired to carry out the job. The shapeshifter is tasked with taking the form of Annie/Starlight because that would make access to Singer easy.
The Insider shows in the final scenes that the shapeshifter has already morphed into Annie, with the real Annie being help captive somewhere. Will there be an assassination attempt in the finale or will Billy Butcher and company thwart it? The answer will come on July 18, 2024.
