Special Ops: Lioness season 2 episode 4 dropped on Paramount+ on Sunday, November 10, 2024, bringing more tension and action that ends with a shocking discovery. The series follows the elite Lioness program's mission to hunt the Mexican drug cartel called Los Tigres.

Joe McNamara hasn't been liking the team's latest missions knowing the dangers and consequences they bring. She's been scared about her family's safety and recruiting a new Lioness, Josephina Carrillo, doesn't help matters, especially after she discovered that she lied to her. To make matters worse, she's now forced to play ball with other agencies and carry out a raid with little to no intel.

The episode title, Five Hundred Children, sets up the plot of the ending of Special Ops: Lioness season 2 episode 4, where Joe and the team found five hundred children inside the warehouse during the raid. But despite the shocking revelation, Joe has to set an example for her team by making an immensely tough decision.

What did Joe find during the warehouse raid in Special Ops: Lioness season 2 episode 4?

In Special Ops: Lioness season 2 episode 4, Joe realizes that someone is following her car, so she gets in touch with Kyle and briefs him about it. Kyle, who was following Joe without her knowledge, which she didn't like at all, helps her corner the car. It turns out that the person tailing Joe is a DEA agent named Guttierez.

Agent Guttierez claims that he works with the same team as the Lioness and claims that without support from the DEA, Joe is putting her team and their family's lives in danger. While Joe is opposed to having an outside become part of the CIA's mission, Kaitlyn and Byron convince her to play ball. Joe has no choice but to agree to bring Guttierez in for their next mission.

He becomes their new informant in the Paramount+ show, but his intel leaves something to be desired. Guttierez tells Joe and the team about the warehouse, which is suspected of being a staging area for suspicious activities. But during the briefing, he uses satellite images of the compound from a month ago, ending up with the Lioness members mocking him.

Special Ops: Lioness season 2 episode 4 sees Joe doing what she does best in preparing her team. But going into the raid, Joe has barely any idea what they will find inside the compound. Guttierez tells them that the warehouse is suspected of housing contrabands, but without any eyes inside the building, they don't have the slightest clue what's inside.

During their covert mission, with the new Lioness, Josephina, in the helo, they break into two teams. They eliminate targets from both ends of the warehouse before barging in, where they find hundreds of women and underage girls held captive. Joe and the rest of the team look visibly shocked by what they are seeing, and at one point, Joe doesn't understand how to proceed with the mission.

It appears that the cartel is not only involved in drugs but human trafficking as well. At the end of Special Ops: Lioness season 2 episode 4, Joe has to make a hard decision. After approaching a little girl and giving her something, which Joe inserts in the girl's shoes, she tells the team to evacuate the place. The girls are free to leave the compound now that the guards are all dead, but that is about the only help Joe can give them.

What is Joe's backup plan for Josephina in Special Ops: Lioness season 2 episode 4?

Since Josephina joined the Lioness program in Special Ops: Lioness season 2 episode 3, Joe has always been skeptical about her. Her distrust for the army captain only grew when she discovered that she lied about knowing how to speak Spanish and knowing about her family and uncle.

Special Ops: Lioness season 2 episode 4 starts with Joe speaking up about how she doesn't trust Josephina during her conversation with Kaitlyn and Byron. They advise her about keeping the new Lioness on a shorter leash to ensure that she doesn't backstab the program when the time comes. Byron has a suggestion on how Joe can do that—put another person in Josephina's shadow.

Joe exactly has someone in mind for the job—bringing Laysla De Oliveira's Cruz back in the Lioness season 2 cast. However, she is not so eager to go back to the team and tells Joe that she got out for a reason. But without a lot of choice, Joe tells Cruz that she's someone she can trust because she puts the mission above all else. Joe plans to have Cruz be with Josephina at all times and keep watch on her, possibly pointing out when she's about to defect.

Cruz Manuelos returns in Special Ops: Lioness season 2 episode 4

Laysla De Oliveira played Sergeant Cruz Manuelos in the first season of Paramount+'s Special Ops: Lioness, but she was visibly missing since Special Ops: Lioness season 2 episode 1. But in Special Ops: Lioness season 2 episode 4, Cruz returns with a new mission—to help the team while also working as Josephina's shadow.

Her blaming Joe for everything and saying that she's done being a Lioness in the previous season made viewers think that she will never return to the spy thriller series. At the end of Lioness season 1, Cruz attacked Joe while on a boat, blaming her for making her a monster through the Lioness program, and said that she wanted out.

Despite Cruz being adamant that she wouldn't return, Joe pleaded her case in season 2 episode 4. She tells Cruz that their current mission is delicate, that she is the one person she can trust, and that she is fit for the job. Also, Joe tells Cruz that she doesn't have the option to say no to her because she already got her reinstated to the program.
