Special Ops: Lioness Season 2 is a spy thriller series that premiered on October 27, 2024, on Paramount+. It revolves around the CIA operative Joe McNamara (Zoe Saldaña), who heads an undercover operation called the Lioness program for the war on terror.
It has been created by Taylor Sheridan and executive produced by Jill Wagner, David Glasser, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Geyer Kosinski, and others. The series premiered its first season on July 23, 2023, on Paramount+.
The show's official synopsis reads:
"Joe attempts to balance her personal and professional life as the tip of the CIA's spear in the war on terror; the Lioness Program enlists Cruz to operate undercover alongside Joe among the power brokers of State terrorism."

1) Zoe Saldaña as Joe McNamara
Zoe Saldana plays the CIA intelligence officer, Joe McNamara, who is in charge of the clandestine Lioness program. Her demanding work causes problems with her husband, Neal, and teenage daughter, Kate.
Zoe is best known for starring as Neytiri in James Cameron's blockbuster Avatar film series. She has also played Gamora in multiple MCU films, starting from Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014 to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in 2023.
She voiced the role of Princess Maya in the miniseries Maya and the Three in 2021 and appeared as Amy in the Netflix series, From Scratch, in 2022.
2) Nicole Kidman as Kaitlyn Meade
Nicole Kidman plays Joe's boss, Kaitlyn Meade, who is a high-ranking CIA official in the Lioness program. As Joe's mentor, she looks out for her and the Lioness program.
Nicole is one of the most prolific actresses in Hollywood. Her portrayal of Virginia Woolf in The Hours won her the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2003. Her other Oscar-nominated roles include playing Satine in the musical Moulin Rouge!, Becca Corbett in Rabbit Hole, Sue Brierley in Garth Davis' Lion, and Lucille Ball in Being the Ricardos.
The Hollywood A-lister has also been praised for her performances in Cold Mountain, Bombshell, Aquaman, and many others.
Kidman has also starred in television adaptations of Liane Moriarty's books, Big Little Lies and Nine Perfect Strangers. Her other television credits include the Prime Video series Expats and Netflix's The Perfect Couple.
3) Morgan Freeman as Edwin Mullins
Morgan Freeman plays the U.S. Secretary of State, Edwin Mullins in Special Ops: Lioness Season 2. He had a recurring role in season 1 but was promoted to series regular in the second season, indicating that he plays a more prominent role with the Lioness program this time around.
In 2005, Freeman won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for playing Eddie Dupris in the sports drama, Million Dollar Baby. Throughout his long career, he has received Oscar nominations for his work in The Shawshank Redemption, Street Smart, Driving Miss Daisy, and Invictus.

4) Laysla De Oliveira as Cruz Manuelos
Laysla De Oliveira plays Cruz Manuelos, a Force Recon Marine who gets recruited as the first Lioness in season 1. However, her first mission doesn't go as planned.
The Canadian actress has appeared as Dodge in the Netflix series Locke & Key, Glow in The Gifted, and Johanna Peeters in Covert Affairs. Her film roles include playing Veronica in 2019's Guest of Honour, Becky DeMuth in John Ridley's In the Tall Grass, and Sibila in the sci-fi movie, Needle in a Timestack.
