As per a report published by What’s on Netflix in December last year, Casting TaylorMade has been conducting casting calls for Stranger Things since the show’s first season. Stranger Things season 5: Release date, what to expect, and cast

On Jul 20, 2024, Dexerto published a report that quoted Netflix's CEO, Ted Sarandos, saying the following during the Netflix Q2 2024 Earnings Interview:

“Looking forward through 2025, you’ve got new seasons of Wednesday, Stranger Things, and The Night Agent, and we’re in production on One Piece, so there’s a ton of excitement there just in our series.”

Thus, Stranger Things season 5 will be released in 2025, though no official date is yet known. As per a Tudum article published on July 15, 2024, the upcoming season was “halfway through filming.” That explains the Stranger Things season 5 casting call.
