Sunny episode 6: Release date, what to expect, where to watch, and more

Sunny episode 6, titled Kyoto Manjū, So Delicious, will be released on Apple TV+ on August 7, 2024. The official synopsis of the upcoming episode reads:

“Suzie officially meets Himé and her friends. Noriko learns to master the game of shogi.”

In the latest episode of Sunny, the titular robot is abducted. It is suggested that Hime, the leader of one faction of the yakuza, is behind this kidnapping. Though Hime and Suzie have previously met, the synopsis of the next episode promises a proper showdown between the two.

At the same time, the next episode could carry the plot forward by exposing more and more information about Masa’s past and his work on The Dark Manual. Also, it could probe into the dynamics of the various relationships portrayed in the series so far.

What to expect from Sunny episode 6?

Sunny episode 5 ended with the revelation that Sunny has been kidnapped. The final shot of the episode shows a note written in Japanese and a prosthetic finger. Hime, the mysterious blonde, was seen wearing this finger in episode 3. Thus, it is quite clear that Hime, and by extension, the yakuza, is behind Sunny’s kidnapping.

Sunny episode 6 could show Suzie and Mixxy teaming up to seek out and then retrieve the robot. The latest episode shows that it is slowly recovering access to its memories. These memories potentially have evidence that could cost Hime dearly.

Further, in episode 4 of Sunny, Hime is shown to be desperately searching for The Dark Manual. Handing over that mysterious document to her father, the supremo of the yakuza, would mean a promotion for her within the group.

Sunny episode 6 could show what results, if any, that search has yielded, and whether the possession of Sunny helps matters for Hime.

Since relationships are one of the prominent themes of Sunny, the next episode could also show how the various characters are coping with their losses and sorrows. Noriko, for instance, was seen battling loneliness in episode 5. Her story might feature in the upcoming episode 6 as well.

Additionally, with Sunny gone, the chemistry between Suzie and Mixxy might evolve. That, too, is one angle the upcoming episode could explore.

Most importantly, through several flashbacks in episode 5, it has been shown that Masa was not the ideal father or husband that the initial episodes may have shown him to be.

Instead, the flashbacks show that Suzie and Masa’s marriage had their rough moments and that Masa started acting strange soon before his and their son’s mysterious disappearance.

As Suzie remembers these moments from the past, the dynamics between her and Masa get complicated. In fact, several moments in episode 5 show Suzie’s resentment towards her husband. Sunny episode 6 might give the viewers more glimpses into the life and work of Masa.
