Sunny episode 8 will be released on August 21, 2024, on Apple TV+. The official synopsis of the upcoming episode, titled Trash or Not-Trash reads:
“In the past, Masa slowly emerges from hikikomori.”
As the synopsis makes clear, Masa will feature quite a bit in the upcoming episode, after being absent in episode 7. Further, the next episode of the Apple TV and A24 dark comedy series will address several plot elements established in the latest episode.
In episode 7, the titular homebot Sunny is seen to be acting strangely. As the episode progresses, it's revealed that it was hacked by Hime when it was abducted. The upcoming episode might shed more light on that, among other things.

What to expect from Sunny episode 8?
The opening shots of Sunny episode 7 show the harmful presence of the yakuza in society, as Hime is seen murdering a politician who wants to curb their influence.
The yakuza itself is undergoing a shift. Jin is the new leader of the organization after Hime’s father’s death. Since Hime herself has been eyeing this position for quite some time, the situation becomes tense.
Sunny episode 8 could show what steps Hime takes to get the top seat within the organization. Additionally, her quest for The Dark Manual, probably created by Masa, might continue in the next episode as well.
Relationships have been a prominent theme of Sunny since episode 1. In episode 7, the relationship between Mixxy and Suzie attained a layer of depth as the two openly confronted each other about their respective shortcomings, only to reconcile at the end. The next episode might explore this character dynamic.
The character of Noriko gets some screen time in the latest episode of Sunny. As expected, she's seen to be having a good time in the prison, playing shogi with her friends. However, one of them threatens her, saying she would expose the fact that Noriko came to the prison willingly.
That terrifies Noriko. Episode 8 could show where this plot point is headed, especially when there are possibilities that Noriko got herself arrested so that she could enjoy the safety within the prison walls, as she knew her family was being targeted by the yakuza.
In the latest episode, Suzie is still seen grappling with her grief over the loss of her husband and son. Also, the episode ends with a cliffhanger, which brings her face to face with the man who had brought her Sunny in episode 1.
