Ending on an emotional note, the series finale then sees Clark and Lois grow old together as they finally die living side-by-side as Jonathan and Jordan carry on their legacy. So, here is everything that happened in the series finale of Superman & Lois.
What happened in the Superman & Lois series finale?
Doomsday dies in Superman & Lois' season finale
Superman and Lois' series finale opens right from the ending of episode 9. With Doomsday back, Superman is failing against him. So, John Henry Irons decides to help Superman this time and returns to his lab with Lana to get some equipment and weapons. On the other hand, Jonathan and Jordan help distract Doomsday while Clark is recovering from the beating he was just dealt with.
When Lana and John arrive in time, they tell Clark they plan to stop Doomsday. Clark then orders Jonathan to bring the monster to him, and as soon as Doomsday arrives, John throws his hammer at Doomsday's head, knocking him out. Superman then takes Doomsday and plans on throwing him into the Sun to kill him for good.
However, when taking Doomsday to the Sun, he wakes up. While Superman is set to deliver the final blow to him, Doomsday stops him and sacrifices himself while reflecting on his past. As he is near the Sun, Superman then takes time to absorb its radiation and heal his wounds.
Superman battles Lex Luthor
After Doomsday is out of the equation, Lex Luthor sets his eyes on Amanda to get revenge on her for betraying him. However, Jonathan and Jordan try to stop him but can't because his Warsuit is more powerful. As he is about to land the final blow on Jordan, he is stopped by Lois who tells him that she should stop being a coward and face her.
As soon as Lex is about to hit Lois, she puts a bomb on his Warsuit provided by John, weakening it. Superman then arrives in time and battles Lex, overpowering him and declaring that his feud with his family ends now. Clark then returns to Smallville with Lex and embraces his family.
One year later
Fans then get to see Superman & Lois skip a year into the future. It picks up with Lana Lang marrying John Henry Irons and everyone being content with where they are. The episode then delves into a montage of what happens after the wedding and reveals that Clark was able to live for another 32 years. During that time, he passes his legacy on to his sons and fights for the world alongside them.
Rather than just being a superhero, Clark then decides to open a foundation with Lois, where they help the underprivileged. Skipping more years into the future, fans get to see him and Lois grow old together as Jonathan and Jordan have kids of their own. However, Lois' cancer returns and she unfortunately dies in Clark's arms.
Superman & Lois then ends with Clark's heart giving out in old age as he is surrounded by Jonathan and Jordan at his deathbed. However, in the afterlife, Clark makes peace with his life on Earth and reunites with Lois.
With this being the final episode of CW's DC saga, it packs in an emotional finale. Fans can now expect to see Superman in live-action when James Gunn's Superman releases on the big screen on July 11, 2025.
