Ted Lasso season 4: Everything we know so far

There is good news for Lasso fans as your favorite coach is going to return to the pitch soon. As per an August 24 report by Deadline, Ted Lasso Season 4 is in the plans and filming will start in early 2025. Many of the key cast members are expected to return for the fourth season.

Ted Lasso season 3 arrived on Apple TV+ on March 15, 2023, and ended its twelve-episode long run on May 31, 2023. To date, the show holds a top spot among the most popular shows on the Apple TV+ list and is at number six at the time of writing this article.

Ted Lasso has been nominated for multiple accolades to date including 20 Primetime Emmy Awards after its first season and currently holds an IMDb rating of 8.8/10. Being a chartbuster, Apple TV+ surely had plans to renew the show for a new season.

Ted Lasso season 4 is incoming as per reports

As reported by Deadline, Warner Bros Television has renewed the contract for three of the show’s key cast members. Hannah Waddingham will reprise her role as Rebecca Welton. Brett Goldstein who writes the show and plays Roy will also return alongside Jeremy Swift who plays the character of Lesley Higgins, the director of football operations

The other cast members, whose previous contracts have expired are also expected to return for Ted Lasso season 4. Jason Sudeikis, who helms this sitcom as the eponymous Ted Lasso will also be reprising his role as per reports and will also take up a role as an executive producer. The creative team of the show is also expected to stay the same.

However, Phil Dunster who starred as Jamie Tartt will not be returning for Ted Lasso season 4 because of scheduling conflicts. Guest appearances can be seen in the next season as well, from actors who will not be able to dedicate themselves fully to the show because of other engagements.

Warner Bros and Apple TV have not commented on these developments, however, more news is expected soon. Filming is expected to begin in early 2025 and if everything goes according to the plans, fans can expect the new season on the streamer in late 2025 or early 2026.

Recently, Nick Mohammed (who stars as Nathan Shelley on the show,) after hearing the season four rumors and news, posted on X, teasing fans about his early prediction for a fourth season finally coming true. Here is what he said -

Ted Lasso Season 4 is believed to be in the plans since the end of the third season in 2023 as Channing Dungey (CEO of Warner Bros TV), had earlier hinted that the show might get a new season. She previously told Variety in January 2024, that:

"I mean, you watched the finale, there’s a little bit of a door that could be kicked back open if need be. I wouldn’t put the period on the end of that sentence just yet..... be excited to jump back into making more…. There are always conversations that are ongoing, just nothing that’s official.”

What to expect from Ted Lasso Season 4

After the third season ended with Lasso quitting as a manager and flying to the US to coach his son's football team, which made him happy for starters, everyone assumed that to be a happy ending to this coaching saga. Ted Lasso season 4 was unexpected.

There were also rumors that the show would follow a three-season plot. There have been hints to fans that Lasso's saga would be picked up in another series, most likely called AFC Richmond.

However, now that new ideas have materialized for Ted Lasso Season 4, it is finally happening as it seems. No plot details have been revealed to date, however, your favorite mustached coach will be coming back to the field. Expect more unexpected friendships, more motivational pep talks, and a lot of action on the field.
