Max’s Teen Torture, Inc. is a three-part docuseries that looks into the physical, s*xual, and psychological torture that teens are often subjected to in residential rehabilitation programs. The title sheds light on the experiences of several former residents/patients of facilities such as Provo Canyon School and Turn-About Ranch.
One of the individuals whose story the docuseries sheds light on is Danielle Bregoli, known to her fans as rapper Bhad Bhabie. The youngster, who was 13 years old at the time, went viral after she appeared on one episode of Dr. Phil with host Philip McGraw. Apart from focusing on her time on the show, the docuseries also includes glimpses of her speaking about her experience at Turn-About Ranch, an institute for "troubled teens," where she later spent six months.
In Teen Torture, Inc., Bregoli claims that she was subject to isolation and forced labor at the institute. She also mentions that she was put on suicide watch during her time at Turn-About Ranch.

13-year-old Danielle Brigoli appeared on Dr. Phil’s talk show that went viral at the time. While her parents believed that talking to Dr. Phil would help her in the long run, the rapper believes it was the opposite. She claimed that even during her appearance, she did not believe that she was undergoing "therapy."
Further, Bhad Babie also claimed that when she attended the Turn-About ranch in Utah as a kid, she was isolated and put under forced labor. During her time on Dr. Phil, she was scared about being sent back to the rehabilitation center. She shared:
“The whole time I’m looking at him, like, this isn’t therapy. If you want to get your kid help, you need to find a better way to do it."
She added:
"This … is only going to make your kid worse. They will come back with depression, they will come back with anxiety, and I have to live like this for the rest of my f**king life.”
On Teen Torture, Inc., The rapper explained that it did not even register to her back then that she was on a TV show, rather than meeting up with an actual therapist. The artist said:
“I don’t think it registered to me that we were actually going on a TV show. I was 13."
Furthermore, she questioned the very basis of the show, suggesting that Dr. Phil merely wanted to use her for clout. She claimed that the appearance only added to her trauma and that the entire experience had not been helpful at all. She opened up:
“I go on your show to get help and you make my life worse? I’ve gotten through those years with no f**king help from you, all you’ve done is add more trauma to my life.”
In a YouTube video released in 2021, Bhad Babie claimed the following:
"My mother signed a consent of release of information to send progress reports directly from Turn-About to the ‘Dr. Phil’ show. So when you say you don’t have any f**king feedback from them, that is not true!”
Dr. Phil, an alleged supporter of programs such as the Turn-About Ranch, also received information from the organization, which the show used to question the "patients." Bhad Bhabie, along with a range of other former patients featured on Teen Torture, Inc., claimed that their misbehavior as kids in itself was a plea for help.
The series came out on July 11, 2024, just weeks after Paris Hilton's Congressional hearing, in which the noted celebrity aired similar thoughts on rehabilitation programs, as Bhad Bhabie.
