At the end of Tell Me Lies season 2 episode 2, Bree breaks up with Evan and hooks up with someone else, and that someone else is none other than Professor Oliver. The foundation of Bree and Evan's breakup starts at the beginning of the episode.

A big part of the episode is about Bree's birthday party, where Bree and Evan get into a fight after Evan gifts her a pair of expensive earrings that Bree finds excessive. Evan then leaves the party, and Bree follows suit.

On her way to the dorms, Bree runs into Oliver outside a bar, and the two strike up a conversation. She opens up to him about Evan before going home. Later, advised by Stephen, Evan tells Bree the truth about the affair. However, he does not disclose that he cheated on her with Lucy. Bree tells him that she needs some time to decide how to go about their relationship.

In another conversation with Oliver, Bree feels attracted to him after they discuss their lives and stories with each other. She asks him if she's pretty, and he compliments her.
