While the show's latest episode did not advance the story much, it established a strong foundation for future developments. It laid the path for a potential rift between Stephen and her sister, Sadie, in Tell Me Lies season 2 episode 6.

Episode 5 of season 2 of Tell Me Lies, required considerable persuasion for Sadie to finally accept that her brother Stephen was the more problematic one in his relationship with Lucy.
What eventually convinced her that Stephen was not a good person was a voicemail he had sent to Lucy which she had forwarded to Sadie. The voicemail prompted Sadie to go so far as to liken her brother to their mother, who has consistently exhibited toxic behavior in the past.
Although Sadie and Stephen's relationship wasn't explored much after this fallout, the tensions between the brother-sister duo are expected to soar as Sadie has now become aware of his capabilities.
Oliver's manipulative tendencies will be taking a toll on Bree in Tell Me Lies season 2 episode 6
At this point in the show's progression, it is reasonable to conclude that every character in Tell Me Lies displays some form of toxic behavior. Therefore, it is unlikely that Oliver, who has recently become a romantic interest for one of the show's main characters would be an exception
In the latest episode of the show, Oliver was insidiously toxic towards Bree while the two were on their weekend getaway. While Bree was trying to get a drink for herself at a bar by showing a fake ID, the bartender urged Bree and Oliver to go to a different bar the next time, typically one that did not require IDs.
However, instead of addressing the bartender, Oliver kissed Bree in a sort of blatant display of a power move. Additionally, Oliver also altercated with Bree, expressing concern over her friend Lucy knowing about their secretive affair.
While Bree is gradually trying to open up to Oliver and break away from her orthodox ways, Oliver on the other hand is trying to control Bree's behavior more and more with each passing episode.
It is natural, given their current dynamics, that Oliver will continue to behave similarly in Tell Me Lies season 2 episode 6. This will eventually end up pushing Bree further into her shell.
