Fans finally get to see the secret that Sol has been hiding all these years in The Acolyte episode 7. The huge reveal is that the Jedi are primarily responsible for the death of all the witches on Brendok, and not Mae.
The episode also reveals exactly why Mae has been after the Jedi all this time. With a lot of surprising elements depicted in this episode, it certainly holds a lot of weight going into the finale next week.
What happens in The Acolyte episode 7?
The Jedi come across the twins
When searching for the Vergence on Brendok in The Acolyte episode 7, Sol finds the twins who take him to discover the coven of Witches led by Mother Aniseya on the planet. Concerned about the twins, he asks Indara whether she can investigate the coven and see what they are up to. Indara reluctantly agrees, and they all go to the coven where Aniseya gets into Torbin's mind as a threat. She exploits the fact that he wants to go back home to Coruscant.
Sol convinces Aniseya that he needs to test the twins, and also form a bond with Osha in the process. Aniseya agrees to do so and lets Torbin go. The next morning, the twins are brought to the Jedi ship with Mae failing the test purposefully and Sol asking Indara whether he could try a different approach with Osha.
With Osha passing the test, Sol sees a potential padawan in her, but Indara says not to do anything until the Jedi council gives them guidance. The Acolyte episode 7 then sees the Jedi council ultimately say no to the Jedi disturbing the peace among the witches. But, Torbin discovers that the twins have a high M-count and have a similar DNA pattern too.
This leads to the Jedi discovering that the twins were artificially created through a vergence. With Torbin seeing an opportunity that he could get the twins and go back home, he decides to pursue them. Moreover, Indara asks Sol to stop him, but Sol ends up joining Torbin to get to the twins instead.
The death of the witches
Viewers then get to see Mae lock Osha in her room as she wants to go off with the Jedi, but she accidentally starts a fire and seeks out the help of her mothers in The Acolyte episode 7. Outside, she discovers that the Jedi have reached the coven, and Mother Aniseya and Koril are set to hold them back.
However, Mae tells them about the fire and Aniseya is set to free Osha. Sol sees it as a threat and stabs her with his lightsaber. She reveals that she was going to let Osha go with him as she chose the Jedi.
This leads to a battle between the witches and the Jedi, with Sol not fighting back and Torbin deflecting their arrows. However, the witches take over Kelnacca, who attacks Torbin and gives him a scar across his eye.
Thankfully, Indara arrives in time and is able to free Kelnacca from the hold of the witches. However, she ends up killing them all while letting him go. Sol then rushes to find the twins.
Sol finds Mae and Osha standing on a bridge that's about to collapse, but he holds it up with force. However, he isn't able to do so for long and lets Mae die while saving Osha. He takes her to the ship with Osha being unconscious. He tells Indara that he will face the Jedi council, but she tells him to lie saying that Mae's fire killed everyone in order to not destroy Osha's dream.
Osha then wakes up, and Sol tells her that Mae's fire destroyed everything, and here's where The Acolyte episode 7 ends.
The Acolyte episode 7 sets up the finale
With The Acolyte episode 7 being the penultimate one for this season, it will lead into the finale next week. With some major loose ends being tied, fans can expect to see Osha learn the truth and have some anger towards Sol. With her being lied to throughout her entire life, she will certainly have some resentment towards her former master.
This could also lead to her giving into the Dark side as Qimir so far has been trying to get her to do so. Having learned the devastating truth, it might just be the thing that pushes her to become Qimir's acolyte. With one more episode to go, fans can certainly expect a huge finale.
