The Acolyte episode 7, Choice, was released on July 9, 2024. In many ways, it is a companion piece to episode 3, released on June 11, 2024. While episode 3 shows the events at Brendok from sixteen years ago from the perspective of the twins Osha and Mae, episode 7 recounts the same from the Jedi's perspective.

The Acolyte episode 7 shows what happened in Brendok on that fateful night sixteen years ago through flashbacks of when all the witches of the planet died, and Mae vowed revenge against the Jedi. This episode answers some questions and comes with big reveals, which may have far-reaching consequences.

Among other things, the origin of Torbin's scars is explained by The Acolyte episode 7. The episode shows that a huge fight broke out between the native witches and the Jedi, which caused the witches to possess Kalnacca. Under their power, Kelnacca unleashed a furious spell of violence on Sol and Torbin, giving the latter his scars on the face.

The Acolyte episode 7: How Torbin got his scars

The Acolyte episode 7 is set on the planet of Brendok, sixteen years before the present time. Four Jedi Knights, Sol (Lee Jung-jae), Indara (Carrie-Anne Moss), Torbin (Dean-Charles Chapman), and Kelnacca (Joonas Suotamo), are carrying out a Jedi mission on the planet to understand how a planet that was destroyed by the "Great Hyperspace Disaster" a hundred years ago could still support life.

The group speculates that a vergence is in the planet, making this possible. One day, Sol comes across the twins, Osha and Mae, and follows them up to their home, which is a coven. Immediately upon seeing Osha, Sol feels a connection with her and thinks she should be his Padawan. Going against the council's command, he decides to take Osha along with them.

Meanwhile, the plot of The Acolyte episode 7 thickens as Torbin discovers through a blood test of the twins that they are essentially one consciousness in two bodies. This enigmatic discovery solidifies their convention that there is a Vergence on the planet, which must have been used to create the twins.

Elsewhere, we learn Osha wants to be a Jedi and leaves home to join them, something her witch guardians resent. Sol and Torbin go to the witches to talk to them about handing the twins over to them. Torbin, it has to be noted, has been wanting to return to his home, Coruscant. His homesickness was fuelled by the spell of the witches.

The action of The Acolyte episode 7 peaks when the interaction between the witches and Sol and Torbin does not go well. When Aniseya, the mother of the twins, starts taking up a mysterious shape, Sol hastily drives his lightsaber through her, killing her in front of Mae (this explains why Mae wants the Jedi dead). As matters escalate, the witches possess Kelnacca, a Wookiee Jedi, and pit him against his fellows, Sol and Torbin.

It is during the fight against a possessed Kelnacca that Torbin receives his scars. Kelnacca, under the spell of the witches, wreaks havoc, attacking Sol and Torbin with intense fury. Torbin, unable to put up with the assault, takes several blows, many of which leave permanent scars on his face.

The chaos on Brendok subsides when Indara, so far remaining at a distance and observing, comes to the spot and intervenes. She releases Kelnacca from the spell of the witches, also killing all of them in the process in some mysterious way. Later on, forced to choose between Osha and Mae as the two are in grave danger, Sol decides to save the life of Osha, whom he wants to make his Padawan.

Back on the ship, the whole affair between Sol and Torbin and the witches is hidden from the council, and the death and destruction of the coven is reported to be Mae's doing.

The Acolyte episode 7 ends by raising questions about the motives and methods of some Jedi members. Viewers should stay tuned, as episode 8 will be released on July 16, 2024.
