Note: Spoilers for the season finale of The Acolyte to follow.
The Acolyte season finale saw Osha finally join Qimir in the Dark Side of Force after she learned that Sol killed her mother. She did so by deciding to kill Sol, and then escaping from the Jedi led by Vernestra Rwoh, and then made a deal with Qimir that if she let Mae go then she would join him.
Aside from that, Mae also had her memory wiped out, and the episode also revealed another mysterious being that was living on Qimir's planet. With so much having gone down, let's take a look at exactly what happened in the finale.
What happened in The Acolyte season finale?
Going back to Brendok
The Acolyte season finale, once again, took us back to Brendok, this time for confrontation. The episode began with Qimir taking off the cortosis helmet from Osha as she learned where Sol and Mae were, and then Qimir told her that he would go with her to where she was going. While leaving, a Muun— who may just be Darth Plagueis— looked at them through the shadows.
On the other hand, Mae escaped from Sol's ship. Both of them engaged in a chase, and they eventually ended up crash-landing on Brendok. Sol then notified the Jedi of his location, and Vernestra Rwoh gathered a group and took them with her to Brendok. Osha and Qimir reached Brendok as well and took their separate ways, making it to the location where her family died.
The Acolyte season finale featured many confrontations
The Acolyte season finale saw Sol walking through the coven trying to find Mae when he ran into Qimir and both of them engaged in a duel. On the other side, Osha found Mae in her old room, and while Mae tried convincing her that Sol lied to her about everything, Osha didn't believe her and the sisters started fighting. However, Mae gained the upper hand and made her out.
During their duel, Sol bested Qimir, but when confronted by Mae, he revealed that she and Osha are the same person. They were created by a vergence and their mother possessed great power. Mae then reminded him that he killed her, which Sol tried justifying by saying that he was just protecting both of them. Unfortunately for him, Osha heard the entire conversation and learned the truth.
She then force choked Sol and her master told her that "it's okay" as he fell dead on the ground. At the same time, Osha bled Sol's lightsaber red, proving that she has now embraced the Dark Side, and escaped with Mae. Vernestra Rwoh made her way to the coven as well and learned that Qimir was alive as she felt him through the force, and he escaped as well.
Osha joins Qimir in The Acolyte season finale
After discovering Sol's body, Vernestra set up a perimeter. Osha and Mae found themselves at the same tree they used to spend time together as children, and Qimir tracked them there as well. Osha made a deal with Qimir that if he let Mae go, she would join him.
To make sure that Mae would remain safe and the Jedi wouldn't be able to track them, Qimir erased much of her memory and only had her remember what happened 16 years back on Brendok. She is then discovered by Vernestra Rwoh who arrests her, but learns that she had much of her memory erased while Qimir and Osha escape.
The Acolyte season finale ends with Vernestra Rwoh revealing to the High Council that Sol carried out the murders of the Jedi to cover up the truth about Brendok coming out. She then seeks Mae's help asking her whether she could help find her old padawan Qimir, and Vernestra seeks the council of Master Yoda as the episode cuts to the credits.
What can fans expect from The Acolyte season 2?
With The Acolyte season finale setting up a season 2, we can expect to see Master Yoda be featured prominently going forward. Given that Vernestra will be looking for Qimir alongside a memory-wiped Mae, fans can expect further revelations regarding why she turned on her former Padawan and exactly what led to him leaving the Jedi as well.
Fans can also expect to see Qimir training Osha as he finally gets an acolyte of his own. However, the question of who the Muun living with him on his planet might be remains. Given that Darth Plageuis, Palpatine's old Sith master was functioning at the time, there is a chance that it may have just been him in The Acolyte season finale. What his role in the show is remains to be seen.
