In The Agency episode 4, Martian and Henry engage in high-stakes negotiations with Belarusian officials to locate the missing operative, Coyote. Henry's strategic threat of a congressional statement compels the Belarusians to act, though not without complications.
Meanwhile, Daniela Ruiz secures a position at the Institute of Geophysics, bringing her closer to her objective in Iran. Her mission is to seduce the professor, in a way, and convince him to grant her a prestigious scholarship that, historically, has only ever been granted to men.
The episode also teases a potential story arc where Martian's cover is blown. The bruised face of Martian sitting on a chair with a lie detector test reveals he is being interrogated. These are small flashforward scenes that indicate Martian's fate in the coming episodes.
What happened between Sami and Osman in The Agency episode 4? Why does Osman follow Martian and his daughter?
Osman is a Sudanese intelligence agent in The Agency episode 4, in which he works for an agency called Mukhabarat, assigned to protect the peace negotiations between Sudanese and Chinese officials. Sami has come to London to attend a UNESCO cultural program, but it was only a cover-up for her real mission to be able to help the peace negotiations.
At one high-intensity moment, the episode sees Osman confronting her in a hotel room where he further pressures her as to the identity of Martian. Their words go cold, with Osman asking heavy, pointed questions about her direct involvement in covert operations.
Sami won't budge, but Osman insinuates that he knows much more than she's ready to admit. This scene shows a strong Osman, who is determined to get answers, and Sami, who is sure to protect the mission at whatever cost, which leaves their relationship with more tension and uncertainty than ever. But Sami still is unaware of Martian's secret identity, and she still thinks he is Paul Lewis.
Martian tries to make a fresh start with his daughter Poppy in The Agency episode 4 and rebuilds their relationship by visiting a mall nearby. They had a huge argument before in the previous episode about the Martian's real identity and suspicious activities. Osman follows Martian and his daughter to a shopping mall on suspicion that Martian is more than just a teacher.
How did Martian sway the KGB agent? Why Henry didn't stick to his decision at the meeting with the Belarusians?
In The Agency episode 4, Martian’s quick thinking and keen observation skills help him sway the KGB agent in the room. When he and Henry attend a tense diplomatic meeting with the Belarusian delegation, the situation is already volatile due to U.S. Congressman Daniels' controversial comments calling Belarus a "puppet state" of Russia.
As Henry confronts the Belarusian officials about the apology they demand, Martian spots Mikhail, the silent figure in the room, and quickly identifies him as a potential KGB agent. Recognizing the opportunity to gain intelligence, Martian invites Mikhail to the SOHO nightclub the next evening.
In a one-on-one conversation, Martian cleverly brings up the story of a missing Russian MiG-35 fighter jet, using it as a metaphor for a missing CIA operative, Coyote. He implies he has valuable information to trade and offers Mikhail huge compensation for intel. The KGB agent takes the bait, agreeing to meet again, and Martian walks away having gained an ally or at least someone willing to listen.
Meanwhile, Henry takes a different approach. Although he had promised not to intervene, he immediately breaks that vow during the meeting. Henry’s subtle manipulation behind the scenes is revealed when he and CIA Director Langley blackmail Congressman Daniels into making inflammatory statements about Belarus.
This carefully orchestrated move sets the stage for Martian to get close to Mikhail, proving once again that Henry operates at a much higher level, pulling strings even in ways Martian is unaware of.
