The Boys season 4 episode 4, titled Wisdom of the Ages, just recently premiered on June 20, 2024, on Amazon Prime Video, and it was the season's biggest outing yet. With the series already at the midpoint of the season, the episode saw some major development for Homelander, who decided to revisit the lab where he was created and spent a good part of his childhood.

In episode 4 of The Boys season 4, Homelander kills everyone in that lab and leaves the place as a new person as he has finally embraced who he is. On Hughie's side, his father ends up receiving Compound V as well after his mother secretly injects him with a dose, which leads to him waking up from his coma. Starlight faces the worst moment of her life as Firecracker tarnishes her reputation.

With so much having happened in episode 4, we can expect episode 5, titled Beware of the Jabberwock, My Son, to be a big outing.

Fans can expect an even more dangerous Homelander going forward in The Boys season 4 episode 5

Till now, it has been pretty clear that Homelander has been struggling with his past and holding himself back. While season 3 was about him finally becoming an independent person with no one looking over his shoulder, we can expect season 4 to be about him embracing his past and accepting himself for who he is now.

With Homelander slaughtering every worker in the lab and sparing his childhood guardian Barbara, the episode ended with him covered in blood and smiling in the elevator, which signified that he was content with himself. This could pretty much point towards the villain being even more ruthless going forward.

Homelander has always had an aura of self-doubt around him, which was also seen in his last interaction with Ryan, and perhaps that is eliminated now, which will certainly make him a force to be reckoned with.

Hughie's relationship with his mom can deteriorate further

In The Boys season 4, Hughie's father, Hugh Campbell Sr., suffered a heart attack, which left him in a coma. When admitted to a hospital, his wife—Daphne—who walked out on him and a young Hughie many years back, returned. However, Hughie didn't take her arrival well, but mellowed out to her and tried to listen to her.

This episode saw Hughie get Compound V from A-Train to save his father who was pronounced brain dead, but didn't go ahead with using it. However, the episode hinted at the fact that Daphne stole Compound V from Hughie and used it on Hugh as he was awoken by the end of the episode.

We can expect Hughie's father to get powers in the next episode and realize that his mom used it against his wishes, further deteriorating his relationship with his mother.

What more can fans expect?

While these are the main and biggest plot threads that fans can expect from The Boys season 4 in the future, there is also the case of Starlight being at an all-time low. The episode saw Firecracker smearing her name even further and revealing to the world that she had an abortion many months back, which led to Annie attacking her. The attack was caught on video by many, and this also caused Robert Singer to distance himself from her.

In the future, we can expect Starlight to take the fight with Firecracker even further and ensure that she doesn't continue to diminish her name. With Butcher also having a few months left to live, it looks like the black goo that is in his body has given him powers as well, as he defeated a supe in episode 4 of The Boys season 4.

However, it's not confirmed what the powers are as the episode saw him blackout with the supe's remains all over him, implying that he isn't fully in control of it.

All will be revealed in the next week when The Boys season 4 episode 5 premieres on June 27, 2024, on Amazon Prime Video.
