A recap of episode 5

The Boys season 4 episode 5 saw Butcher and MM get Stan Edgar out of prison so that he could help them find the supe killing virus. He leads the group to a farm where they find a destroyed lab and are intercepted by Victoria Neuman there. However, Neuman is seen trying to find her lover Sameer - who also happens to be creating the virus and seeks out The Boys' help at the request of Edgar so that they can find Sameer together.

They then start getting attacked by the farm animals there who have compound V in them, and they seek shelter in a barn house where they finally find Sameer. He reveals to them that all the samples of the virus are gone, and he just has one dose left. They use that dose to infect the dead body that was nearby Sameer, and they send it out which ends up killing the animals as they ravage it.

In that time, Sameer ends up going missing much to Neuman's disappointment, but it's revealed that Billy Butcher and Joe Kessler ended up kidnapping him so that he can create more of the virus.

On Hughie's side, Hugh finally wakes up after Daphne secretly administers him with Compound V. But things start taking a turn for the worse when he starts losing his memory due to gaining powers, and a few people end up dying due to him not being able to control it. Hughie then finally calms his father down and accepts that he needs to die for things to get better. Saying goodbyes to him, Hughie tells his father that he will let go of him, and as Hugh passes away, Hughie and his mother embrace each other.

At Vought Tower, Sister Sage is still trying to find the leak, and A-Train growing more nervous about it seeks out Ashley's help. Homelander on the other hand, decides to give his son more freedom to choose in his life as after facing his past he feels more confident about himself now. Homelander also asks the Seven to be more brutal going forward and to embrace themselves as "wrathful gods."

What to expect in The Boys season 4 episode 6?

Given that Butcher and Joe Kessler have Sameer in their captivity, we can expect them to get him to make a new virus that will certainly be used against Homelander in The Boys season 4. With only 2 more episodes left to go, it certainly is going to get chaotic for the supes going further. Victoria and Stan have also united and fans can expect them to be hatching their own plans too.

On the other side, with Hugh passing away, Hughie will surely be dealing with his loss in the coming weeks while also getting closer to his mother. His mom also offered him her engagement ring, and perhaps Hughie might also ask Annie to marry him.

With Homelander also being more lenient with Ryan and the latter being more comfortable with his father, fans can expect the duo to raise some hell of their own as well.
