Some fans of The Boys, who have an eye for small details, may be confused by a little tribute that the ending of the fourth season had, "For Larry Kripke." This title card flashed right after the post-credit scene concluded, and was followed by other cast and crew members being credited in the final episode of The Boys Season 4, which premiered on July 18, 2024.

For those who are wondering who Larry Kripke is, it is showrunner, creator, and this episode's director Eric Kripke's father. While it is unclear why the famed showrunner used this episode to pay tribute to the senior Kripke, it is perhaps because Larry passed away earlier this year.

The Boys Season 4 came with a lot of expectations and it is safe to say that the packed ending of the eighth episode, which also serves as the finale for the penultimate season, lived up to the expectations. This season of The Boys may not have received the thunderous response of the previous one, but it has still carved out a legacy of its own, and the series also looks towards its final act by this finale.

The fifth season of the show will be the conclusive one as previously revealed by Eric Kripke. However, The Boys universe may continue even after the original show has ended, with a lot of potential and a lot of stories still to cover.

Larry Kripke is the father of Eric Kripke and the founder of an aluminum brokerage firm, Kripke Enterprises Inc. (KEI), in Toledo, Ohio. Larry passed away on February 13, 2024, at the age of 80 after battling Parkinson's disease for years.

Due to his recent death, his younger son, Eric Kripke, who is also a famed television writer and producer, chose to feature his name in the recent episode of his show, The Boys.

Larry Kripke had worked in the industry for nearly all his life, originally beginning in the recycled metals industry in the mid-1960s at Sherwin Metals in Toledo, where Eric and his siblings also grew up. Larry later attended the University of Michigan Business School in 1965 and then came back to aid his family business.

Under his leadership, the business flourished and in 1993, he finally founded KEI. His elder son Matt Kripke currently leads the company and acts as the CEO.

Larry Kripke passed away silently and peacefully in his sleep on February 13, 2024.

The Boys Season 4 ending leaves room only for a finale

With so much happening over the past four seasons, The Boys has evolved completely, with most of its characters also going on far different trajectories from where they started. The fourth season intensified things far more, with more deaths, more gore, and a far more unhinged Homelander (Anthony Starr).

The fifth season, which has already been declared as the last one, will delve into the final chapter of this story. The fourth season left things in just the right amount of disarray for the next one to carry it forward. But now there is a sense that we are approaching a sinister conclusion to the tale.
