All nine episodes of The Dragon Prince season 6 were released on Netflix on July 26, 2024. The latest season of the animated fantasy series brings many plot elements of the story to a head, and the finale features a twist concerning the fate of Aaravos.

Aaravos has been a dominant character throughout the series, driving many of the story's actions from the background. In The Dragon Prince season 6, he not only reveals his sad past but also manages to break free from his prison.

Aaravos was imprisoned within a giant magical pearl for centuries, which was discovered by Callum in The Dragon Prince season 5. However, in the latest season, even though Callum wants to destroy the pearl altogether, his plan fails. The finale of the season sees Claudia freeing Aaravos, resulting in his return to Xadia.

The Dragon Prince season 6: Aaravos returns to Xadia thanks to Claudia

The previous seasons of the series have established that Claudia is adept at dark magic and loyal to her father, Viren, no matter what. In a bid to extend her father's life, she decides to shake hands with the treacherous Aaravos.

Centuries ago, Aaravos, the ancient Startouch Elf, was imprisoned by the elves and dragons for causing chaos in Xadia through his evil machinations. In season 5, Callum and his friends discover his prison.

In The Dragon Prince season 6, Callum sets out to destroy the pearl that contains Aaravos. However, the plan does not succeed due to Aaravos' scheming. Further, the pearl ends up with Claudia, who is eager to help Aaravos.

Claudia initiates the ritual to set Aaravos free. However, she does not have the emotional connection with him needed for the ritual. To generate sympathy, he narrates his tragic life story to Claudia. Moved by his tale, she is able to free him and restore his mortal form.

Thus, after centuries of captivity, Aaravos is set free and returns to Xadia. The next season might explore the consequences of his arrival in Xadia.
