The Equalizer season 5 episode 1 starts off with a case involving stolen groceries. These turn out to be cartel weaponry, accidentally swiped by two foster siblings Kevin and Randy. Their miscommunication results in them being on the wrong side of the cartel bosses, which is where Robyn steps into the story.
Robyn makes it to the NYPD parking impound lot to apprehend the truck with the weapons shipment on it. In the process, she ends up getting knocked out and taken hostage by the cartel members. The siblings, however, are the ones who find a way out of the sticky situation.
Kevin and Randy quickly take over a car from the parking lot and decide to use it as an escape vehicle. They manage to free a fatally injured Robyn, who sustained wounds from an explosive.
However, even as Robyn makes it out safe, The Equalizer season 5 episode 1 raises the question of how far she will be able to make it with no backup. In this case, the siblings were smart enough to chalk out an escape route, but it might be difficult for Robyn without true backup.

The story in The Equalizer season 5 episode 1 also focused briefly on Dante and his new job in Los Angeles. Harry is the one who calls him to ask for help to track down the weapons truck. He also informs Dante about the status of the team and how Mel's mental health break is going. At the end of the call, Harry also tells Dante that Robyn misses him, and having him on the team.
Robyn and Harry later speak about Dante while trying to figure out how to navigate the weapons truck and the feds at the impound lot. Harry nudges Robyn to call Dante, also telling her that Dante misses her too. Robyn ends up calling Dante and speaking to him briefly, as he assures her he will try to be of some help.
