The Equalizer season 5 is set to return with its first episode on October 20, 2024, at 9:30 PM ET on CBS. Created by Richard Lindhein and Michael Sloan, the series is a spin-off of the original The Equalizer series featuring Edward Woodward.

In the series, Queen Latifah stars as Robyn McCall, a single mother who embarks on a journey to navigate and help vulnerable people. CBS first announced the story revival back in November 2019. The first season premiered on February 7, 2021, and received a positive reception. The series went on to run for four succeeding seasons, receiving a 5.5 average rating out of 10 on IMDb.

After ending the fourth season with a sentimental and abrupt touch, The Equalizer season 5 is likely to explore more dimensions of the central character, exploring her relationship with Detective Dante. After the premiere of season 5 episode 1, the rest of the episodes will shift to their regular timing at 9:00 PM ET starting November 3, 2024.

The fourth season ended on a fidgety note, elevating the story to a climax. Mel's abduction was terrifying for the audience, but Robyn managed to save her. This left her deeply disturbed, and she decided to take some time off from the team.

While Robyn and Dante's love story met an abrupt end when he said farewell to New York City and his love partner. The Equalizer season 5 is likely to explore how the single mother will manage her work and family with her two close ones gone. The new season will also answer if Dante and Mel will make their return.

As per a Variety article, published on April 25, 2024, the president of CBS, Amy Reichenbach, reflected on the television reboot of the 1980s series. Amy said:

"The Equalizer,’ led by the incomparable Queen Latifah, has all the best elements of a powerful drama."

She continued:

"The series is stacked with suspense, heroism, high stakes, and formidable characters our audience roots for. We look forward to another dynamic season."
