Fans are wondering if The Family Business season 6 is on the horizon. The last episode of season 5 of this popular family drama aired on BET on August 29, 2024.
Deadline reported on January 17, 2024, that BET+ had ordered a spin-off of The Family Business, set in New Orleans, with Brandon T. Jackson set to star. However, no official confirmation is yet available about the fate of The Family Business season 6.
Nevertheless, some guesses can be made based on a recent Facebook interaction between Carl Weber, the series creator and the author of the books on which the show is based, and some fans.

On August 19, 2024, Carl Weber made a post on Facebook, hoping that people enjoyed The Family Business season 5 finale. Further, he also announced:
“For you folks that are looking to get another Family Business fix.. Look for Family Business New Orleans (it's really good) sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas.”
Fans of the show asked Weber if The Family Business season 6 was on the cards. BET has so far provided no official statement about this. However, Weber’s reply to one fan indicates that season 6 might be coming, after all.
One fan asked Weber:
“Is family business New Orleans is a spin off so no more family business or two diff shows?”
To this, Weber replied:
“Two different shows.”
Thus, fans may expect The Family Business season 6 to be out sometime in the future.
The Family Business season 6 has several questions to answer
Much of The Family Business season 5 is about Junior, the estranged son of the patriarch Lavernius "L.C." Duncan. There is a perpetual cold war between the two, and Junior is even seen to be leading the Alliance, a group actively working against his father.
Further, Junior’s personal life has been in shambles. In season 5, he abandons his wife, only to come back to her once she is pregnant. Thus, The Family Business season 6 could show how Junior is faring in the aftermath of these incidents.
Also, the Alliance and its impact on the Duncan family can be addressed in the upcoming season. Season 5’s finale shows a cold reconciliation between Junior and his father. Will this affect the future of the Alliance? The Family Business season 6 might answer that.
The spin-off series will reportedly arrive in November this year
As per Weber's response to a fan under the above Facebook post, the spin-off of the series will be out in November this year. Deadline reports that the plot summary of the spin-off would be as follows:
“In the spinoff, when the New Orleans side of the Duncan family gets caught in a vicious turf war with corrupt politicians, dirty land developers, and ruthless crime bosses all vying for the family’s underground casino and night club business, they call on their relatives from New York to help wield their own brand of justice.”
