The Law According to Lidia Poet season 2 is set to premiere on Netflix on October 30, 2024. The second season of the Italian series is directed by Matteo Rovere, Pippo Mezzapesa, and Letizia Lamartire. Moreover, Flaminia Gressi, Guido Iuculano, and Davide Orsini serve as the writers for the second installment.

Created by Davide Orsini and Guido Iuculano, the drama series is loosely inspired by the real-life story of Italy's first female lawyer, Lidia Poët. It is produced by Matteo Rovere and executive produced by Paolo Lucarini. The series aired its first season, of six episodes, on February 15, 2023.

The official logline of The Law According to Lidia Poet season 2, as per Netflix, reads:

"Lidia is back, ready to tackle new cases and continue fighting for fairer laws. Who will assist her in her battles? Her beloved brother Enrico, the charismatic new prosecutor Fourneau, or the brave Jacopo?"

Following the success of the first season, Netflix renewed the series for a second season in June 2023. The latest season began production in Turin and Piedmont in the summer of 2023. The Law According to Lidia Poet season 2 will feature six episodes, all of which are set to air on Wednesday, October 30, 2024.

Season 2 of the legal drama will introduce a new character named Fourneau, played by actor Gianmarco Saurino. He is the new King's attorney, who crosses paths with Lidia and bonds with her over their shared views regarding equal rights between men and women.


Plot summary

In The Law According to Lidia Poët season 2, Lidia sets her sights on the world of politics as she advocates for equal rights between men and women. She understands that changing laws at the highest level is the only way to advance her fight for women's freedom.

But since the period drama is set in the late 19th century, Lidia faces opposition from people in society, who are shocked by her ambitions. Undeterred, she urges her brother Enrico to run for Parliament and help her change the law from within.

In her quest, she meets a new prosecutor named Fourneau, whose progressive views about women's rights make him an ally in Lidia's mission and also a potential love interest.

Furthermore, Lidia is forced to team up with her former love interest, Jacopo, for a secret investigation to find out who has been following her. Jocopo has been at odds with the Poëts family since he sold off their family villa in season 1. He nevertheless joins Lidia with the hope that they can rekindle their lost flame.

Matilda De Angelis reprises her role as Lidia Poët in The Law According to Lidia Poet season 2. She is joined by Pier Luigi Pasino as her brother Enrico Poët, Sara Lazzaro as her sister-in-law Teresa Barberis, and Sinéad Thornhill as her niece Marianna Poët.

Other supporting cast members include Dario Aita as Andrea Caracciolo and Eduardo Scarpetta as the journalist, Jacopo Barberis. Moreover, Gianmarco Saurino joins the series as the prosecutor Fourneau.
