In The Legend of Vox Machina season 3, the stakes are higher than ever since Vox Machina is the only force standing between the Chroma Conclave and the total ruin of Exandria. The season 3 premiere, however, takes the story in unexpected directions.
For instance, Raishan, a member of the Chroma Conclave, decided to help Vox Machina defeat Thordak, the immensely powerful dragon and the leader of the Conclave. Further, in episode 3, Dohla is killed by Vorugal, another member of the much-feared Conclave.
The Legend of Vox Machina season 3 premiered with its first three episodes on October 3, 2024, on Amazon Prime Video. The synopsis of season 3 of the animated show reads:
“Everything is at stake in the long-awaited Season 3 of The Legend of Vox Machina. The Chroma Conclave’s path of destruction spreads like wildfire while the Cinder King hunts down Vox Machina.”

The Legend of Vox Machina season 3 premiere ending: Dohla dies an unceremonious death
As episode 3 opens, members of Vox Machina set out for the Hells of Despa, where J’mon Sa Ord claims the plate is stored. However, the journey is a daunting one since the plate is guarded by dragons.
Allura and Kima assure the others that they have a companion in Draconia who could help them get there. The companion is none other than Dohla. Dolha has a history with Allura and Kima; when the trio defeated Thordak once upon a time, Allura and Kima took all the credits, sidelining Dohla.
Thus, Allura and Kima are surprised that Dohla does not hold a grudge. As they keep moving, however, Dohla’s true intentions become clear; she has not forgiven Allura and Kima, and she has been leading Vox Machina into a trap all this while. Soon, Vorugal, the fierce ice dragon, shows up.
This marks the first appearance of the white dragon in The Legend of Vox Machina season 3. His abrupt arrival causes panic, and the Vox Machina members run helter-skelter for shelter. Dohla starts taunting Vorugal, asking them to finish them off faster.
This rubs the dragon the wrong way, and he kills Dohla instantly. Eventually, he traps Allura, Vex, and Percy in the mountain, cutting them off from the others.
What happens in Ank’Harel?
Towards the end of episode 1 of The Legend of Vox Machina season 3, Vox Machina goes to Ank’Harel in search of the vestige. Gilmore shows them where it is kept, but as warned by Raishan, they have competition—Anna Ripley.
Ripley takes off with the vestige. Percy, after a long chase, finally catches up with her. It seems that Ripley is planning something evil by using the vestige, and she wants to enlist Percy in her scheme.
The proposed partnership, however, does not materialize. Ripley flees, but Vox Machina is accused of murdering Mistress Asharru (an act actually committed by Ripley). The ruler of Ank’Harel, J’mon Sa Ord, punishes Percy for the alleged murder and orders the others to leave the place.
Through Scanlan’s timely intervention, however, the ruler is shown proof that it was Ripley who murdered Mistress Asharru. Percey and his fellow Machina members are cleared of all charges. Further, J’mon Sa Ord also tells them that the plate Ripley has is a fake one; the original one is in Hells of Despa.
The Legend of Vox Machina season 3: Why does Raishan go against Thordak?
Raishan and the Vox Machina have been enemies. However, episode 1 of The Legend of Vox Machina season 3 begins on an interesting note: Raishan wants to help Vox Machina defeat Thordak.
Raishan wants to bring down Thordak because he once betrayed her; after she saved him from the Fire Plane, he went back on his promise of freeing her from a curse that was killing her. Raishan tells Vax and the others that Thordak now plans to bring about a new order of elemental dragons to rule the world.
Vax sneaks into Thordak’s lair and finds several dragon eggs. This convinces Vox Machina that Raishan was not lying after all. Her covert mission against Thordak might be a major plot element in The Legend of Vox Machina season 3.
