The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power season 2 is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on August 29, 2024. Following a three-episode premiere, the remaining five episodes of season2 will be released on a weekly basis till October 3.
The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power season 2 will explore the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron and the generation of more Rings of Power. The upcoming season’s synopsis on Amazon Prime Video reads:
“Sauron has returned. Cast out by Galadriel, the Dark Lord must now rely on his own cunning to rebuild his strength and forge the legendary Rings of Power, threatening to bind all peoples of Middle-earth to his sinister will.”
It continues:
“Season 2 plunges its most beloved characters into a rising tide of darkness, challenging each to find his or her place in a world on the brink of calamity.”
The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power season 2 has been steered by an all-female directorial team, comprising Charlotte Brändström, Sanaa Hamri and Louise Hooper. Read on to know about the cast of season 2.
The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power season 2: Cast
1) Rory Kinnear as Tom Bombadil
Known for portraying the role of Bill Tanner in the James Bond films Quantum of Solace (2008), Skyfall (2012) and Spectre (2015), Kinnear will play Tom Bombadil in The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power season 2.
Largely a secondary character in the source material, Bombadil might become a key character in the series.
2) Robert Aramayo as Elrond
Elrond is the bearer of the elven-ring Vilya, the Ring of Air, and is also the master of Rivendell.
In the Amazon series, the “half-elven” character is played by Robert Aramayo, known for playing a young Eddard Stark in the HBO series Game of Thrones. He also appeared in the Netflix psychological thriller miniseries, Behind Her Eyes (2021).
3) Cynthia Addai-Robinson as Míriel
The only child of the late-marrying Tar-Palantir and the King of Numenor, Míriel undergoes a serious injury in season 1, causing her to become blind.
However, she's still seen as a bold and powerful character. The role is played by Cynthia Addai-Robinson, who was previously seen in shows like Spartacus, Arrow, Shooter, and others.

4) Selina Lo as Rían
A former martial arts champion, Lo will portray the new character Rían in The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power season 2. The actress’ previous credits include Boss Level (as Guan Yin), Hellraiser (as The Gasp) and One Child (as Xu Lian).
5) Maxim Baldry as Isildur
Isildur is an important character in the Tolkien-universe as the Ring passes from him to Gollum. The King of Arnor and Gondor, Isildur is portrayed by Maxim Baldry, who has appeared in shows like Doctor Who, Strike Back: Vendetta, among others.
6) Morfydd Clark as Galadriel
A crucial character in season 1, Galadriel is expected to exert her influence in The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power season 2 as well.
Galadriel is a Noldorin Lady who witnessed Middle-earth during the Three Ages. In the series, the character is played by Morfydd Clark, who played Mina Harker in Dracula (2020) and Sister Clara in His Dark Materials (2019).
7) Gavi Singh Chera as Merimac
To be introduced in the series in the upcoming season, Merimac Brandybuck is a Hobbit of Buckland who was at Bilbo's Farewell Party in Tolkien’s books.
The character will be played by Gavi Singh Chera, who has appeared in the television series The Undeclared War, The Lazarus Project, among others.
8) Ben Daniels as Círdan
Also being introduced in season 2, Círdan is a highly influential Sindar in the books.
Tolkien portrays him as one of the wisest elves. Ben Daniels, who has appeared in shows like Cutting It (2002–04), The Virgin Queen (2005), Law & Order: UK (2009–11), The Paradise (2013) and House of Cards (2013–14), among others, will play Círdan in season 2.
