Dan Chase’s story hasn’t concluded yet as The Old Man season 2 will be returning on FX, this September 12, 2024. Based on Thomas Perry’s original novel of the same name, the series’ TV adaptation was announced in July 2019 with Jonathan E. Steinberg and Robert Levine revealed as the showrunners and Jeff Bridges playing the lead character.
The Old Man premiered on June 16, 2022, on FX and later made its streaming debut on Disney+, just the next month on July 13. Due to the amount of positive reception the first season garnered a 97% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a Metacritic score of 72, making it one of the unmissable series in the action-thriller catalog.
The Old Man season 2 is also going to have a similar run to the previous installment with an extended run that promises even more intense and captivating storytelling.

Plot summary
Here’s how the official logline of The Old Man describes story:
"Dan Chase absconded from the CIA and lives off the grid. When an assassin arrives and tries to take Chase out, the old operative learns that to ensure his future he now must reconcile his past. The FBI's Harold Harper is called on to hunt him down because of his complicated past with the rogue fugitive."
The synopsis further says:
"When Chase proves to be more difficult to apprehend than the authorities expected, a highly trained special ops contractor is sent to pursue him as well. While on the run, Chase rents a room from Zoe McDonald, who draws on reserves she never knew she had to survive the day when she learns the truth about her new tenant."
