Episode 4 was all about Emily requesting Dan to help her save Hamzad’s village from what’s coming for them. However, Dan and Harold had to walk down the road they were not willing to take.

Besides the tense struggle for control playing out in the background, the show had to say goodbye to two of its key characters, with one being Faraz Hamzad. Read on to learn more.

From the moment Hamzad got shot by Harold, there was little expectation that he could likely survive it. The Old Man season 2 episode 4 eventually confirmed in the first few minutes with the doctor signalling Khadija that it was the end of the roads for him.

Before Hamzad’s demise, Emily met him and assured him that Dan and Harold were on their way to making things right. This, in some way, relieved the dying man, even if just for a fleeting moment. Protective of his daughter, Hamzad tried to make Emily understand that this fight could get more ugly than she imagined and he wanted her to be safe.

Although it had been a strange reunion between the father and the daughter, Hamzad affirmed to Emily that she belonged to that place. Hamzad’s death came as a shocker to Emily and Tarik, as they believed that he would make it out of this.

Khadija revealed to the duo that Hamzad didn’t want anyone to know about his imminent demise, especially the two of them. With Hamzad out of the picture, his village is really in big trouble, and Dan has become the last resort.

However, with the major revelations made in The Old Man season 2 episode 4 and how it ended, Dan is walking on thin ice, and any wrong move could put him and the others in a risky situation.

Pretending to be a rich man for quite a while has made Dan a cranky critic about each and everything, and he indeed hated traveling back to the U.S. on a cargo plane. However, Harold tried his best to keep up with his old buddy’s tantrums, although not with a cool head as anticipated.

After confronting Morgan Bote, Harold asked him to reconsider his decision, to which he declined, causing Dan to get involved in the heated debate. However, Dan eventually calmed down after seeing Zoe there with his two dogs, for which he criticized Bote, only to hear that it was his mistake that she got involved in this mess.

Zoe had been in contact with Hamzad’s lawyer, seeking help to save both Emily and Dan. Although the lawyer didn’t reach out to her, Bote contacted Zoe and brought her to his home. Dan wanted Zoe to not be involved in this situation.

Eventually, Bote intervened and unveiled to Dan that his stunt at the party in Morocco gave him the intel that Suleyman Pavlovich was getting deeply involved, trying to take control of the whole lithium deposit. That left Bote with no choice but to freeze the accounts in Mashbahar deposit to prevent any potential misuse that may grant Pavlovich an upper hand.

As she promised Dan to talk to Bote about the situation Emily and Hamzad’s village was in, the man still wasn’t reconsidering. All of a sudden, Bote’s house was infiltrated by a few assailants; he killed one of them but was shot dead. Meanwhile, Zoe hid behind Bote’s desk for safety.

Fortunately, Dan arrived with his dogs, killing the second man and saving Zoe. Unfortunately, with Bote’s death, Dan failed to cherish the promise he had made to Emily, leaving things even more disastrous than they already were.

The final scene of the episode confirmed that it was indeed Pavlovich who had his right-hand man send assassins to kill only Dan and Harold, but they could only kill Bote. Pavlovich is seemingly preparing to unleash all his wrath, setting the stage for a deadly confrontation that could put Dan, Harold and everyone involved in this conflict at even greater risk.
