The Old Man season 2 was confirmed by FX Entertainment president Eric Schrier soon after the series premiere on FX. Based on the Thomas Perry novel of the same name, The Old Man is an espionage thriller. The first season lasted for seven episodes and ended in July 2022.

What is The Old Man about?
The series stars Jeff Bridges as widower Dan Chase. Worried about his declining health and grieving the loss of his wife to Huntington's disease, he becomes paranoid about being watched and followed.
His past eventually catches up to him when he kills an intruder who came after him and exposes himself to his former employers at the CIA, who he'd deserted under acrimonious circumstances, and who knew him as Johnny Kohler.
Forced on the run, Dan finds refuge renting a place from Zoey MacDonald (Amy Brenneman), unwittingly roping her into his problems. Meanwhile, Dan's former handler, Harold Harper (John Lithgow), has been assigned to hunt him down, and he works with his protege Angela Adams (Alia Shawkat) and hitman Julian Carson (Gbenga Akinnagbe) to do just that.
What to expect in The Old Man season 2?
Season 1 ends with the shocking reveal that Angela Adams was none other than Dan's adoptive daughter, Emily Chase. Dan had spirited Emily away from her biological father, Afghan warlord Faraz Hamzad, but had spared Hamzad's life.
The final episodes reveal that CIA head Morgan Bote, who was also the mentor of Dan and Harold, had cut a deal with Faraz where he'd surrender Emily to Faraz in return for his help capturing Dan.
However, Faraz successfully double-crosses the CIA and abducts Emily, who is now in his captivity. Dan and Harold are now allied in a quest to rescue Emily and bring her back home.
